WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
I have been toying with the idea of purchasing a cover for my Wildcat when I know it’s might sit for several weeks between trips. What kind of covers if any do you use?
I am looking for a cover that will last for awhile. Some of the material used rips fairly easy; some come with some kind of a material for the roof area that’s a different material than the sides.
Anyhow if those of you who have covers your input would be great. It would save me the headache possibly buying a cover I would not be happy with.
I bought a cover for my truck spent about 230.00 on it and it seems that material is starting to rip now. So it didn't last very long before this started to happen. I figure that the sun is just destroying the integrity of the fabric. So I want to make sure that the RV cover is not made out of the same material.

Re: WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
I don't like covers. Never had one, but my father in law used one on his Jayco he bought new, and every spring he had to air the camper out, it always smelled musty. when he didn't cover it he did not have that smell. My dad also me have never covered ours, Dad's trailer is 34 years old and my brother has it now and it still doesn't stink inside. My wildcat (4th big trailer) is only 3 years old, and I don't plan on ever covering it. But that is just my opinion. In our part of the country we get heavy snow and we get to much condensation.

Thanks Tim, the problem out here is the sun, heat. The sun figured if I could cover it from time to time throught out the summer months the rubber roof and all the decals will last a lot longer. Thats what I'am most concerned with is the sun.

Re: WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
Try California Car Covers. I had a van cover from them and it was good quality.

If you live where there is some wind, you will have a problem. The wind moves the cover and causes wear spots. Even if you tie them down. Don

Re: WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
I live in the NV high desert and after 4 years being uncovered, the decals are fine. We get winds in the 80-90mph gust area in the winter so it's not fun to have a cover. As Don stated, the covers will rub and cause more damage. The covers on my jetskis have worn the decals a bit from the abrasive action. If I didn't use them here, the vinyl would be shot.
Here's another tip. The sun yellows some of the plastic pieces around the trailer. I cleaned them up with plastic prep (a cleaner) and painted them with white paint. It made the trailer look new again.

Re: WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
I just painted my speakers and trim around the window on the entrance door. It really cleans things up. We have a 2008 model. It was a year old when we bought it and it is now kept in my garage. It's amazing how quick the plastic parts yellow. They apparently have very little uv inhibitors in them. I like Krylon paint. It's made specifically for plastic and it really goes on nice. I still need to paint the little plastic trim caps at the bottom front and rear corners. Also will be painting the plastic at the water entrance but that hasn't yellowed as much as the other parts. The compartment catches are yellowing too but I may just replace those with stainless steel parts. I've had some other items that I painted with the white Krylon several years ago and they show no sign of yellowing.

Re: WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
We bought a cover last year to use when our 5'er is stored for the winter; that would make this the 2nd year the 5'er is under cover. Have had almost no issues with it; very minor chaffing on the rear seam. We have tightened the straps once so far; it was after a storm blew through TN with 50 mph gusts, but the cover stayed on fine. When we uncover in the spring the inside is fine, no mustiness, and the outside is as clean as when we put it on. Just a quick wash and the 5'er sparkles again. My brother-in-law uses one on his toyhauler as well. We both are happy with them.

Re: WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
Not interested in covering the whole trailer. Just cover the roof with a over lap of 8-10 inches. Mine is a 2002 model just trying to keep the roof in good shape. bought a silver reflective tarp and tied down. Works well in the midwest winters. Left trailer open enought to check things once in a while.

That would look great in my yard
. Do you remember the company you purchased this from, and secondly, are the support posts bolted to concrete or something similar? Thanks.

Re: WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
I do not remember the company name now but after I purchased it I noticed several companies in the area that sell them. Usually some local business had a demo model set up on their business and sold the shelter on commission.
The support posts are connected to one continuous horizontal post that runs the length of the shelter on each side. That horizontal post has about a 3 feet metal bar driven through a drilled hole into the ground about every 4-5 feet to anchor the structure. I had to prepare the site myself and I chose to just have gravel instead of concrete.
I have been very happy with the shelter.

Re: WILDCAT RV COVER SUGGESTIONS
They come in various widths. I think mine is 16 or 18 feet wide. I needed that because I can not back straight into it. I have to enter at an angle. A friend of mine got one that is 10 feet wide I think as she could back straight into hers.
So my point is you can get them in various widths.

Thanks for all that responded to my inquiry. I have decided to check into www.calmarkcovers.com and see how much one will cost.
