Insulation replacement

Post by 2+2inacamper on 1/29/2010, 10:56 am

What type of Insulation is in the underbelly of the Cat. Previous owner removed, would like to replace for the camping later in Midwest seasons. Can fiberglass batting be used or do you have to use foam? Would appreciate all help I can get. Really interested in extending the camping season.
Thanks Kevin

Not sure where you mean........there is no insulation in between the corrugated plastic underbelly and the floor weather barrier. All the insulation is between the floor trusses, which wouldn't be too easy to remove.

There should be a product called coroplast, here is what it looks like:

http://www.coroplast.com/Plasticor-whitecap.htm

Its like corrugated cardboard, but its made out of plastic.

As Steve said, its only an underbelly material used to cover up the tanks and wiring and stuff that is under the floor boards. But looking up underneath the coroplast there is no insulation to be seen. Its all sealed off.

I have read where some folks have put foam insulation board on top of this coroplast to help keep the tanks a little warmer when the heat is on.

Thanks, was wondering if anything was up their at all. seeing the repairs you have done on coroplast was wondering if anything was up there. When weather breaks will give it a shot to see if we can get it completed before the season starts. again thanks, Kev
