Carrying a motorcycle

Post by mga60tw on 1/27/2010, 3:28 pm

First topic message reminder :

I want to carry a 270lb motorcyle on the back of my Wildcat. I want to weld the motorcyle carrier to the frame and brace it. I know I have heard that I may not want to do this (frame weak etc..) Has anyone done what I want to do? I figure since the fresh water tank (40 gallons is back there) and if I made sure it was empty I am not adding more weight. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks, Tom

You must plan on getting far away from everything and everybody. Where I go to hunt which is around 20 miles from the nearest water and fuel source a lot of guys carry a fresh water barrel or two in the back of their pickup for spare water.

Scottz, how much is your truck over its GVWR when you have that tank filled and your Cat loaded?

Nice looking tank. I don't have one of those storage lockers like that on my cat.

The axle weights are fine; the GVWR is 520 over. That is with all tanks full, everyone on board and a full load of gear.

I should have bought the 3500 instead of the 2500. I'm already about 900lb over the GVWR with the loaded Cat. I couldn't consider adding a tank in the bed. My GVWR is 9000lb.
