Where to find 2004 specs?
Hi everyone,
New guy here and need help. I'm searching until my eyes bleed and I can't find the factory specs for older Wildcats. My wife and I currently have our eyes on a used 2004 28RK and don't know what came standard on them. While we'd like a 4 season camper these are out of our price range so a very well insulated camper will have to be acceptable. My understanding is that the Wildcat is considered a "very well insulated" model.
We don't intend to full time it but we do don't need a couple nights of 0 degrees to run us out of the Colorado mountains either.
What I can't find is the specs that tells us what the 2004 RKs came with. Like heated tanks, or heated underfloor, or what?
Can someone point us to a source for looking this stuff up on Wildcat models older than 5 years as we find them?
Thanks,
Andy

Re: Where to find 2004 specs?
I have a PDF of the west coast 2005 models, it's a little over 3MB in size. I could attach it to a email if you give me your address.
As an aside I'll say that apparently there are differences between the west/east coast factory defaults.

Thanks guys! PMs sent. Looking at 5ers from 2000 to 2005 so both of your brochures are greatly appreciated.
Going to look at a 2003 on Saturday and the 2004 likely the same day.

When you look at those older Wildcats be sure to check the condition of the tires. Look for abnormal wear on one side of the tire which indicates a problem with the axle. This was a problem on many fifth wheels, not just Wildcats, between 2004 and I believe 2006.

Andy,
The DW and I are fulltiming in a Wildcat 29RLBS and have been since 2007. The first attached link shows a list of mods that I did to my Cat to insulate it against the cold and the second has some pix of a couple of the mods.
Even though the Wildcat is considered a four-season camper, you have a bit of work to do to actually live in it in below 10*F weather.
I think the 28RK is built pretty much on the configuration of the 29RLBS, just a different layout. But the insulation points that you'll want to attack will be the same.
Best of luck,

Re: Where to find 2004 specs?
Got the 2004 brochure from Mike. That's just what I needed!
I see the more important items (for me) is the tanks are all enclosed and heated, decent insulation in the walls, ceiling, and floor (but need improved in the accesses and such as Mike points out), decent tank sizes, etc... A very good foundation for dry camping the way we'll use ours.
I suspect the 2005 is only going to continue these good standard features so I doubt we'll need a 2005 brochure. Sure it's nice to know the additional improvements made in 2005 but for our needs right now, knowing what our minimum specs are satisfies us to know we'd do very well buying a WC.

Re: Where to find 2004 specs?
You're welcome, glad I could help.
I originally downloaded the 2004 because I ordered our Cat in Feb. 2004 but received a 2005 model when I picked up the trailer end of May 2004 instead. I then learned that the Forest River switched model years in April. Our 2005 model doesn't have all the features listed in the 2005 brochure, but had a few improvements over 2004 (like the hood range vent being exhausted to the outside).

Re: Where to find 2004 specs?
You need to keep in mind that the tanks are heated with ambient air from the furnace. The furnace needs to run on a consistent basis in 0 degree temperatures.

Re: Where to find 2004 specs?
Thanks. I thought I read "heated" meant there was a tank heater (similar to a waterbed heater) adhered to the tanks.
But ambient isn't all that bad either for me though. I doubt we'll be out in temps too low except at night when we have the heater furnace running anyway.

Re: Where to find 2004 specs?
Hi All,
I am new to this sight and I have to say how great it is to have so much information on one site. We just purchased a 2006 Wildcat 31 QBH. We are looking foward to making memories with our 3 children. I am in search of an owners manual for our 5th wheel. Although the previous owner was very helpful in telling us all about the 5th wheel, it would still be nice to have a manual to read. If anyone has one that they aren't using or know of where I can find one that would be most helpful. I have tried the local Rv dealership here but they wanted $100.00. I am hoping to find one a little more reasonable. We have our 1st trip planned for memorial weekend and would like to be ready.
Thanks

Madjack805, I have an original somewhere that I could scan and send your way but would take some time. If no one else here has one send me a private message and I'll get it done for you this week!
