sirius / xm radio people called....
the satelite radio people called today because I let my subscrip run out a few months ago. I haven't really used it like I used to. I have a ipod touch , and my wife has a Iphone and with the Itrip connection thing you can listen to the pandora radio just like satelite but a lot better to me. the more I listened to the xm sirius it became like regular radio same old music looped over and over
when they called today and i kept saying I didn't want to renew, she kept dropping the price, it was down to five bucks for a month and a month free or something like that or six bucks a month for a year. they must be hurting pretty bad.

I renew my XM every year, but first I have to cancel it. They then call me and offer it at half price for the year, which I take. It's just a silly game I have to play every year. I like XM but not enough to pay full price.

Re: sirius / xm radio people called....
about the only thing I was listening to was the talk / news stations.
I also read a article about the cell companys starting up a price war on their packages that started this week.
I've got to keep my eye on that and watch for a good deal to pop up.

Re: sirius / xm radio people called....
When we bought our Hyundai Santa Fe in 2008 it came with three months of free XM radio. Satellite radio, imagine that, felt like a very modern man. DW and I both enjoyed listening to XM so when it was time to buy the service we did.
Fast Forward to this month when we bought our Ford F250. The truck came with six months of free Sirius radio. Cool, we now have satellite radio in the vehicle we use for traveling with our Wildcat.
Since Sirius and XM merged we’ll probably get the additional radio discount, right? Nope, even though they’re one company, they are still two separate services. I didn’t even realize that the radios aren’t compatible and that neither one can receive the other’s signal. That sucks.
Well I can tell you this, I’m not going to pay for two satellite services. Hmmm, we have Sirius radio in the truck that we travel the country in, and XM radio in the SUV we use around town. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know which service we’ll be dropping.

I just dropped my XM because we really only used it in the summer when were on an Odyssey. They immediately wanted to "help" so I now have 5 months at $4 per month with an extension of 5 more months if I haven't decided yet. Sounds like they might be like twit, tweet, facebook and the rest, everyone is losing interest in the "latest and greatest technologies". Just my 2 cents, or should I say, 1.33 cents.

We have parts of one of them on our DishNet. Their, XM/Sirius, service is not available in Alaska, according to the advertisements, so we don't have either for our vehicles. I burned 20 CD's with around 10 hours, each, of MP3-music in a random order for when we're driving.

Re: sirius / xm radio people called....
We've had XM radio since '04. I loved the service for the first several years. We have it in both of our main vehicles. We've never hesitated when it came time to renew.
It was first billed as CD quality sound, unlimited choices, commercial free radio. It lived up to its billing and more.
The last two years its been a gradual change to more and more stations with advertising and the same 15 songs looped over and over.
Its still better for us than any other options available but its not what it used to be.
My wife drives 84 miles round trip to work 5 days a week. Even talk of canceling her XM may get you stabbed with a fork at our dinner table.

I called and got the half price for a year deal on both my wife's Expy and my truck. I have another Sirius radio in the WC, but I don't pay for that one since I rarely use it.
I haven't noticed the advertising, but I don't listen to the talk radio.
I do pay the $2.99/month internet access. I listen to it all day at work. There's a nice desktop app here that takes the place of the online player they provide. There's also a phone app for window mobile 6.

My sirius doesn't have commercials, but I have heard ppl with XM complain about commercials in the past before the two combined.

Re: sirius / xm radio people called....
I may let my XM drop when it expires. The only thing I use it for now is talk radio and I hate listening to commercials on a service I pay for. How many debt relief and tax relief commercials can you stand? Same for going to the movies; it makes me mad every time I pay $9 to see a movie and have to sit through 15 minutes of commercials before it starts; don't get me started.
My Blackberry has just about replaced the XM for music (Pandora). I have also been downloading podcasts; XM's days are numbered.

I bought my wife a Itrip fm broadcaster to hook up in her car with her Iphone. she can plug in and listen to pandora in the car. its much better for music than the xm/sirius was. I think they have a universal one that fits the blackberry , well worth the money if you don't already have one. Or unless your car / radio has a mp3 hook up already thats even better.

Re: sirius / xm radio people called....
I just got a letter from XM informing me that my 3 year subscription expires in March and that they are going to automatically bill my card $401.45 + $61.42 music royalty fee for another 3 years.
I immediately called them and had them remove my credit card information and informed them they were not authorized to charge anything on my card. They then tried to sell me a life time service for $460......the life of your radio. She said it can be transfered 3 times for a $75 fee.
Are these guys related to the cell carriers?

They're grabbing for hard ground in a down and dirty way.
They seem to be sliding on down in the quicksand now.
I'd say the big boned woman is about to sing..
The cell co's are a whole nother story. But instead of dividing more like I was hoping, it looks like even the smaller one's are gonna jump on the price fixing wagon with the big boys. I was sure hoping they'd keep breaking'em down and make'em lower the price's. But from what i've seen they're shaving on one end and adding on the other.
