Console Box
It was a toss-up whether to post this under DIY or Tow Vehicles. Since it was a DIY, I decided to post this here.
The box is built out of 3/4" MDF with a 3/4" oak laminate plywood top (edged with oak banding) and covered in grey allweather carpeting from Home Depot. Cost me about 3 hours and $35.00 to make. We like it because of the increased storage space over the OEM Dodge console and since we do not use the middle seat in front that wasn't a loss for us. I was originally looking for a way to mount my CB without interfering with the stick shift.

The rectangular slots at the back of the new console are for a future rack to hold maps, books, etc.

The box holds our CD's, our GPS which is dash mounted and our XM radio module. The DW likes the storage space and the flat space when the top is closed. She puts her knitting patterns there when we are traveling.
Outta here .....

Looks ver good!!! Any though of putting some sort of padding on the top so you don't bang your elbows?

Fortunately the top of the box is at seat level, so there is very little chance of banging the elbows. The one thing that I didn't like about the OEM console that Dodge built was that when it was down it interfered with full motion of the right arm when shifting. Must work great for the auto/tranny guys, but us stick shifters need out room.
