Air in water Line for Wildcat 30LSBS

Post by carcamano on 1/16/2010, 3:02 am

I am using the water pump to pump water from fresh water tank to sink, shower and toilet.

Usually it takes a few minutes to get air out of the lines and I get a steady water flow.

For some reason, I have noticed that air has never left the lines and I have that annoying flow where you keep hoping it will get steady but air keeps coming out.

I left sink faucet on and went to check the lines in basement by the water filter. The lines are fine, but I see air coming into the filter tank which is causing the 'not steady' flow.

I tried removing the filter tank and placing it back, but air keeps coming in.

Any ideas? I am far from a water line so I can not hook up city water straight to my trailer therefore I must use the pump.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all!

Only thing I can think of is its pulling air in from the main water supply connection. is that capped off ?

only other place it could pull air is if one of the lines are loose. seems like it would be leaking then though and you would see it.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

First...Welcome to the group! We're glad you are here. The only reason I can think of is there is a leak in the suction line, somewhere between the fresh water tank and the pump. The leak may not drip water, but will suck air. Pay close attention to the seals around the pump itself.

Let us know what you find, always looking to learn something new.

to the forum.
Check the gasket in the filter housing. It has been known by some of us when we dump the filter housing, is to dump the ORing gasket also. Other than me doing it

Yep,,, the rubber "O" ring gasket on the filter canister would do it. Seems like that would leak pretty good without it though. especially under pressure.

I agree with AVid, air can only get sucked into the system on the suction side of the pump which is between the pump and the fresh water tank. Air and water will only be expelled at any leaks on the pressure side. Check all connections on the waterline between the pump and the water tank.

Welcome to the Group!

For what its worth, I had a bypass valve installed on the inlet side of the pump for pumping the anti-freeze through the lines for winter. This valve did the very thing you talk of, and when I removed it I didnt have anymore troubles with air in the lines.

Hope that helps!
