110 volt Adapter Plug Installed

Well I finished my installation of my 110 volt adapter plug today. Everything went as planned, including drilling a 1 7/8 inch hole into the front of the Cat for the adapter. Plugged in charger works like a charm!

I may have missed it here somewhere but what are you using the plug for? Any specific item or just an extra 15amps at the campground for general use?

MountainMan, the reason I installed the receptical was I have a 2 bank battery tender (trickle charger) that I keep hooked up to my batteries to keep them maintained. I got tired of running the extension cord through the open storage door to plug the battery tender in. So now I just plug the cord into the outside of the trailer and then plug the charger into the female receptical.

Tim, this is the site I got the receptical plug from, DyersRv.com here is the link for the plug. They have all kinds of neat things and seem to be cheaper than other RV dealers.

Looks identical to what I put on the side and ran a dedicated line to an extra outlet in the living room to run an electric heater.

Just what the Doctor ordered for that application. Your battery(s) will stay in much better shape and last much longer with the aftermarket charger vs. the stock converter.

I will be doing the same in the near future. Did you stay with 12v deep cycle or go to 6v golf cart batteries?

I was able to get the dealer to thow in an extra 12v deep cycle with our purchase but will probably be changing over to series wired golf cart batteries when the two 12v batteries wear out. Depends on how the 12 volters hold up.

MountainMan, when I bought the Cat, I had the dealer remove both 12 volt batteries, and replaced them with four six volt batteries. IMHO I think six volt is the way to go if you have the room to house the batteries.

I don't have any pics of the install, and my fiver is at the dealer for warranty work.

Basically, it is the same exterior plug, with Romex wire that is run through the storage compartment to the cubby hole in our 32QBBS. There, I put in a new construction box with a regular double outlet. I just plug in an extension cord from the 110, 15amp outlet that most CG's have on the post, and then can use that outlet for the heater, toaster, hair dryer, etc.....
