I'm still alive.

Post by Admin on 1/4/2010, 6:42 am

Well, for not riding the past 4 or 5 yrs, I made it 4 hrs of the 8hr enduro race. It was about 20deg's at the start and didn't warm up much after that. My camel pack straw froze solid on the first lap. I thought my body heat would keep it from freezing.

heres a couple of clips of some of the obstacle course stuff., the rest of it was all tight woods, and slick as owl snot, either frozen ground or slick unthawed mud on top of frozen ground.
After doing a couple of tuck and rolls over the handle bars, I gave up while I was still ahead. Talking about sore, and What Was I Thinking.....

the log jam.

Looks like fun! I can't think of anything I could do for 4 hours.

Any doubts about your being certifiably crazy have been removed!!

Glad there are no injuries to report.

Looks like fun to me! Liked the tree house ramp. A little enduro cross thrown in for fun.

Frozen ground makes for tough riding and painful crashes. Its the only time I simply do not enjoy riding. We ride year round in rain, sleet, snow or boiling sun as long as the ground is not frozen.

I mainly ride tight single track through the mountains of WV. I've spent many weekends on MX tracks in my younger years but always enjoyed woods riding most.

Two rotator cuff surgeries (march and november) kept me off the bike this past season but I hope to be able to get back in the saddle this spring. I've missed riding and paddling more than words can express.

Sucks getting old but beats the alternative.

Keith, Don't you have 5' of soft snow to land in ? Although that kinda air looks a little crazy on a big machine like that. Especially if it lands on ya. My dirt bike weights the same as I do.

Heres a helmet cam view of one lap of the enduro race. this guy ran a pretty quick lap at around 40min.

He passed me at the 9min mark on the video, thats me on the right with the brown jacket on the green kawasaki. I could hear that group of guys closing in on me fast so I pulled over and let them by.

When this guys line starts, if you look up in the right top of the frame. Thats some Union civil war guys fireing their rifles to start each class. Thats the coolest start I've seen in a race.
