Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
Has anyone had a microwave go bad before the warranty is up? We have had so much trouble with our new Wildcat and this is just the latest. We call the regional service manager (Rod Batts), but have a lot of trouble getting results. He just doesn't get back to us with answers. Any suggestions?

Re: Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
No. My microwave works fine. Normally during the first year of warranty you have to go through the dealer you got it from for warranty work, then they go to the factory, that is where BATTS is at in Elkhart, IN. It is a pain and time consuming. I know your pain. Also they (the dealer) stress that you must go through them to get warranty work done. What floor plan and what year do you have.

Re: Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
Thanks for the replie Old Yella...
I have a 2009 28RKBS that came off the line Feb. 09. It was built over the holidays, and I fear they just were not thinking about my 5th. wheel!!!
To my surprise a rep. from Magic Chef told me that the microwaves that were put in R.V.'s were not always new!!!
So far 23 major issues with this unit, and not all fixed. Looks like I paided good money for a fixer-upper!!

We had difficulty with our mircowave closing properly. It normally happened when my wife used it. But not closing properly kept it from working. The dealer who sold us the unit fixed the trim piece and all was taken care of. Good luck.

Frank L: Ours did the same with the door not closing properly. I go a replacement mircowave from the dealer and that one did the same thing. We just have to push on the door at the bottom right corner when we shut the door.

Re: Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
Chuckles,
Sorry you are having so many major problems. 23 wow! We have a 2010 28 RKBS and so far no real issues. We have a humming noise coming from the drivers side gas regulator when the furnace is operating and the dealer said it was probably water in the system and he would fix it. Hope you finally get all your issues fixed so you can truly begin to enjoy you WC. We have put about 3000 miles on ours since Sept. and all worked well. Don't give up, the WCs are good units.

Chuckles, I to am sorry for all of your headaches with your rig. I also own a 2010 28RKBS have had just a few minor things that were fixed by the dealer. I hope you can get your dealer to go to bat for you and have them put a new microwave in.

Re: Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
bsmall2800, some of my major problems with this Wildcat are factory, others dealer.
My awning tube was bent, from the factory. Fixed. The stove oven did not work, took 3 months to get fixed. Main door was hit and bent, still have it. A number of water leaks, some they fixed, others I fixed. Converter went out the firsth week I had it. Rear window on my slide broke with a stress fracture, cost $428 no help from dealer of FR. Underbelly cut wrong so they finisher the job with tape, still taped. DVD does not work with remote, new remote sent to me, but not the answer. Half the lights in the unit from the factory did not work, took two visits to the dealer to get that fixed. City water connection let the pump empty the tank through it, bad valve, I now have two different color connections. Now the microwave, still no action from Rod Batts on that one. The list is longer, just things they said could not be fixed, and could I live with it! I can but I will fix it the right way.
You have a good warranty rep. in the western div., I think her name is Beverly. Talked to her at the start of my problems, answered the phone first ring, told me if I would have bought this out there I would not have these problems.
We still like the unit, not all the problems....

Re: Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
Good grief thats way too many problems on one camper. We just bought new so I wouldn't have to be constantly repairing something on our old one.
Kinda makes me leary of ours (2010 RLBS) before we even get to use it.
Reads like QC definitely let that trailer by without much of an inspection.
Good luck with the micro and all your other problems as well.

Re: Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
Where did you purchase you 5th wheel? I see in you avatar you are from/in Ohio. I got my 5th wheel from RVWholesaler in Lake View, Ohio. I live in Florida and towed it home. On the 23th of February 2008 at a rest stop in Kentucky we were going to spend the night, the furnace would not work. It was 23 degrees outside. We napped in the truck till dawn and then drove straight home. I could have bit the head off a nail. A week later the furnace started working on its own. I call that FBM (fixed by magic). The 5th wheel is warranty for one (1) year from the Dealer, but they have to go thru Forrest River to get work authorized. Before the one year was up I took it to Camping World to get some warranty work done. One item that needed to be fixed was an installation by the dealer. Camping World got authorization from Forrest River to do the stuff that Forrest River felt needed to be done. I contacted the dealer to get the authorization to get their work redone. One of the things Forrest River agreed to was a new window because the rain would blow in thru the latch. A couple of the items Forest River would not do be cause that is norm for the industry I guess. But I can live with them. RV quality is a far cry from the car industry. Half millions dollars rigs have the same problems. The quality of work is not what I call the best but it appears typically for that industry it seems. I also have fixed several items myself.
I hope this helps and you understand what I am trying to say. GOOD LUCK.

Re: Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
Chuckles,
I am going to assume you are the host I talked to this June while we were at the State park there. I'm sorry you have not made any headway with Rod. Seems like some people have really good luck with him and others don't. You can always just go and get a microwave at Walmart and put in it. I know that the dealer should replace for you, but if I remember right you bought yours way off somewhere. The other option is to take it to Camping World like Ole Yella did.
On another note, Welcome!!!! I'm glad you decided to join. I was just wondering the other day what you found out about all of your problems.

Re: Warranty on Magic Chef Microwave?
moo2613...Thanks for your info in Geneva. Rod did get back to me, and to all, my microwave is on it's way direct to me. He could not get in touch with the dealer here in Jacksonville, Dick Gore's RV, so he is sending it direct. My problems are not over, but I do know now where I can find some sound advice....
Thanks again to this wildcat camper forum...HAPPY NEW YEAR....chuckles
