Snow In The Western Mountains Of NC

Post by schrowang on 12/19/2009, 5:29 am

Looking southeast across the parking area in front of the store across "B" section toward the owners home.

Looking west across the playground in front of the store toward "A" section.

Here are two pix taken by Workamper Mike L. at Asheville East KOA. The CG is about 12 miles east of Asheville at Exit 59 on I-40. I believe they were taken this morning. Mike said that at one point the snow was being driven horizontally by the wind. Sure looks different than when we left in September.

WOW!!!!! Well, we're supposed to get brushed by the northern edge of this storm tonight and tomorrow A.M. Looking at 2 - 4 inches.

Well, they just upped it to 5 - 8" on the newscast tonight. Boston and south are really going to get walloped by this on with 15"+. They built a snow fence along the border for this one and the amounts taper off drastically as you go further north.

Since we have to pull the Cat out of here on January 4th, I'm not looking forward to any more digging out than I have to.

Sure would like to drive through the Smokey mountains with a snow on like that but with the roads clear of course.

Actually went through there back in November to get through to Mooresville NC. Had a guy call wanting my solid wood bar tops for his restaurant so we took some wood and built them for him.

It was a week after the rockslide on I-40. Didn't know that had happened and had to detour. That was interesting to say the least.
