Replaced the original mattress

Post by bsmall2800 on 12/8/2009, 2:40 pm

Went out today and purchased a new mattress to replace the one that came with the trailer. I can't believe that they put such a poor and I mean poor quality mattress in the trailer.
I plan on donating the mattress back to the dealer in the event that he knows someone that can use a new mattress.

Now I only have a couple more modifications to make and were good to go!

We never even took the plastic off ours; it came out a couple days after we bought the cat.

We added a foam topper to ours and that cured the crappy mattress problem.

We put our pillow top out of our tt and gave the new owners a new camper mattress. Then we put a mattress pad, heated mattress pad ( we have on all our mattress ) on the pillow top. Sleep better in the camper than home. Jim

We went to Sams and bought one of the 2.5" memory foam pads for ours. We just didn't want to tie up funds for a new mattress just yet. It really has made a difference. I think we may not even need to replace the mattress. After a few trips we'll know more.

What size of a mattress is it? I've been meaning to do the same thing, or ANYthing for that matter. I can't sleep on that dang thing AT ALL!!! Only issue we'd have on our QBBS is the bed tucking under the closet when the slide pulls in. A mattress topper may be too high? Any mattress recomendations would be appreciated!!

On our 09 32QBBS we added a memory foam mattress topper and it makes a world of difference. I do however have to fold it back onto the bed whenever we pick up so that the bed can slide under the wardrobe. Not a big deal but a thicker mattress would definitely not work on this unit as there are only about two inches of clearance when the bed slides under the wardrobe.
