Global warming HAH

Post by Maxtor on 12/8/2009, 11:03 am

This is the first time in 20 years that we had to "winterize" something. We are forecast to get down to 23 degrees

I blew out the water lines with air, and will turn on a ceramic heater.

This town is not prepared for that low of a temperature. The plumbers will be busy with broken pipes all over town.

Global warming,, yeah right....

Sounds like ya'll are getting our typical weather.

Don't forget to open the vent on the hotwater tank to let all the water out. Then blow the lines out good again. that usually takes me through the winter ....

It was -5°F on this side of the mountains. On my drive to work into Carson City it dropped to -10°F by the Carson River on Hwy 395. When I went to lunch, it was 17° with clear blue skies.

I plowed snow with my tractor last night in 10° weather with the snow blowing in my face. We got about 9" at my house. I live on the east side of the Valley. Most reported 18" near the foothills.

The official low this morning was -11°F in the town of Minden.

I actually drained the hot water tank.
Sounds like it is danged cooooold at Jetskier's house. I know around Alturas Ca. and the high desert of Nevada and eastern Oregon, it can be bone chilling cold. Here in Redding Ca. we are used to very hot summers and mild winters. The last time it snowed here was about eight years ago, and then we got about one inch.
If it ever got into the teens in temperature here, it would be a major issue with broken pipes, because the home construction here is not cold friendly.
It was a learning experience when we purchased a ranch in Oregon and had to run water lines three feet underground when here in Redding some water lines are above ground or exposed.

-11 is beyond cold....

The frost depth here is 18-24" for construction purposes. I haven't seen it further than 12" myself. We don't get the sustained cold like the Great Lakes area where the frost depth is 4'+.

On my wedding day here in July 1998 it was a brisk 107°. We have the extremes.

7:30pm....It's below zero already. It's cold!!!!! I can't imagine what it will be in the morning. I'm guessing -15 to -20.

The fire is roaring. The WC has icicles on its cap.

It's too cold for us. We lived in Chicago for 43 years and couldn't take it then, even though we were used to it. Our thermometer read 27 this morning.

It's so cold, our computer can't keep up with my speedy typing.

-12°F this morning. When it's that cold diesel exhaust comes out as white steam and can fog a whole lane on acceleration.

Ok,,, the real question.... Jetskier; can you start your diesel??
You would think that being as cold as it is in your town,,, we could here the rattle of the diesels starting out here in California.

I park in the garage overnight. It starts fine. I think I waited only 5 seconds after turning the key to "run" before hitting the starter. Fired right up.

Only the United States and Canada experienced cooler conditions than average, the World Meteorological Organization said, though Alaska had the second-warmest July on record.

There's your proof of cooler.....

Taking this out of context...

Although temperatures have fluctuated, the causes were natural.

According to the U.S. space agency NASA, the other warmest years since 1850 have been 2005, 1998, 2007 and 2006. NASA says the differences in readings among these years are so small as to be statistically insignificant

They will stop it when they have achieved their agenda, and taxed us all into poverty.
