EZ Flex/EquaFlex - Does it Smooth the Ride?
I've been searching all of the posts on this topic. I know that it will improve the shackles, but does this upgrade smooth out the ride and reduce the jolting that the RV gets on rough roads? I want to improve the suspension and ride without the investment of Mor-Ryde or Centerpoint systems.
Thanks

The quick and easy answer is yes. Be sure to measure your clearances and choose which system fits your application best. Both EZ-Flex and Equaflex are both very good. EZ-Flex fit our 2006 29rlbs the best. The benefits are a smoother ride and much stronger units, with greased metal bushings, not plastic like which comes stock from the factory. I think the main difference is shackle length, but there may be more.

We have an equa-flex "test zone" right here as we get on the highway heading west, and we found the equa-flex helped. Hard to tell the difference on good roads. At the same time do the shackles and greased metal bushings if you can, our plastic bushings and shakles were both wearing when we replaced them.

I am with RichGeorge, make sure to buy the "wet bolt kit". We have a stretch of highway around Richmond which is terrible and this upgrade made a difference. Be sure to measure the shackles - the ones in my kit were longer than the original and I didn't pay attention to that and lowered my trailer - had to do it again with the same length shackles that were installed originally.

We have the Equa-Flex and I did see a difference also, and would definitely do it again.
As Mike said, be sure to get the WET BOLT KIT. Out original shackles were waring and the nylon bushings were almost shot.

I agree, you can see the camper tires hitting bumps, but you can't feel them.

Re: EZ Flex/EquaFlex - Does it Smooth the Ride?
When we ordered our 2010 31TS we got the Equa-Flex suspension. We had a 5th Airborne pin box on our 2007 30LSWB which the dealer moved to the new 5'er for us. After the 1st trip to Florida and the big test which is I-65 through Birmingham and Montgomery this combination along with the airbags on the truck was amazing. The 5th Airborne on the old 5'er helped quite a bit but couldn't eliminate all the chucking and bouncing from segmented concrete and bridge joints. With the new set up those issues are about 95% gone. Also, I would highly recommend having the wheels balanced, helps a lot with the "shake, rattle, and roll" on the inside.

Since I experienced significant shackle failure on last summers "Odyssey"
any "after-market" fix seems like an improvement over OEM.

Hey Guys,
I don't know much about 5th wheel anatomy, but I do know I don't like the look of the parts in the picture (above).
So...what are shackles?
Thanks!

Sorry, I guess the correct term, especially for warranty work, is spring hanger.

Re: EZ Flex/EquaFlex - Does it Smooth the Ride?
Ok..thanks for the pictures.
So there are 4 shackles = spring hangers on each side? It looks like in the first picture you posted that there are 2 different sizes (front and back, perhaps?) Is that correct?
In the second picture, they look of equal size.
I'm assuming this is something that needs to be checked? And if the Equa-Flex is installed, these would be replaced? (At the very least, I guess they would be checked then).
Thanks!

All 4 are the same size. Make sure that the replacement shackles are the same length as toe old ones (I learned the hard way, longer shackles will lower your trailer).

Re: EZ Flex/EquaFlex - Does it Smooth the Ride?
Having had the same experience as Gerry, I had switched to the EZ-Flex two years ago with absolutely no regrets. Not that the roads in Colorado are terrible but with concrete roadways we have alot of expansion joints and with the Air Ride Trailer saver hitch, the Cat is smooth as silk on the roads.
