We've had our camper now for 3 years and have never covered anything. There are pros and cons to covering the camper. But I don't think anyone JUST covers the AC unit, at least, I don't cover mine, and we get snow here too.

Lots of snow here also. Never covered the AC on the Wildcat or any of our past RV's. Never had a problem, but now you got me thinking. Couldn't hurt.

Two frigid, snowy winters in NH and two icy winters in NC and never had a problem leaving it uncovered.

I cover mine here in Ontario and I see a number of others that do as well. I have no idea if it's really needed or not, but for the minimal cost of the A/C cover, I figure it can't hurt. I've had the same cover for 7 winters now.

What exactly is accomplished by covering the AC? I don't see the benefit since the system doesn't vent to the outside and leak air.

I've never covered mine. I figure the less I'm on the roof the less chance there is for me to tear the rubber membrane.

We didn't cover ours on our old Prowler (early 80's) in Illinois and didn't have any problems. We don't cover the A/C on the Cat here in TX, and so far no problems.
We had freezing rain/snow/and more freezing rain when she was in storage in Tulsa. No problem with the A/C, but the corner of our mattress got a little wet from water backing up into the bedroom vent.
