Wild Cat Spotted in State Park

Post by Taquilatab on 11/29/2009, 9:55 am

This Thanksgiving weekend we were camping at Ferne Clyffe State Park which is in southern Illinois, when I noticed another Wildcat drive past us. I thought I saw the number 17 on it's behind but I wasn't sure. I was going to go say howdy but they pulled in a couple of spots and I guess weren't satisfied and left before I could make contact. Whoever it was...HOWDY! sunny

Wasn't us, although we know Ferne Clyffe SP pretty well. It's been a long time since we've camped there..... many years.

I sure would like to know who this #17 is that's impersonating us.

I don't know who it might have been. I checked with the wife and she said it was a 17. I wonder if it could have been some sort of NASCAR or racing number then?

Hope you had a good time in my neck of the woods. There are several other campgrounds around here that are nice .

We really like Ferne Clyffe. It's a nice park with lots of trails. One of my favorite places to eat is over in Karnak. It's called Our House and is an old grocery store with a deli in the back. They have great food!

We usually ate at Grandma's in Tunnel Hill - or Aunt Marnie's in Creal Springs (not restaurants, REAL home cooking). Thanks for the heads up about a good place to eat. I anticipate that we might be going through that area next fall.

If you are just travelling on I57 there is a campground at the Goreville exit (hilltop), the same exit as Ferne Cliff that is full hookup that is nice . The restaurant on the south end of Goreville is a decent place to eat . DW and I went to hilltop the first weekend we got our 31ts , its only about 20 min for our house. We had some friends stop to see our new camper and we ended up going to g'ville for dinner, the next day for lunch, and Sunday morning for breakfast. The little grocery store in g,ville is a nice little store for supplies . Jim
