31TS 2010 Heater

Post by Cozzens on 11/21/2009, 1:00 pm

I ordered a 2010 31TS. Was wondering where the heater is? I walked around the demo unit and didn't really think about it until I got home. I didn't see the heater? I know it has a fireplace and there is heater ducts...but did not recall seeing the main heating unit?

Did I miss it?

I may be wrong, but the industry standard seems to be that the furnace is located under the reefer. At least that's been the way it was in my Sunline, TrailHarbor and Wildcat 5'ers.

Hope this helps.

Congrats on the order and welcome to the forum!!! I'm sure somebody with the 31ts will chime in, but I agree with Mike, they always seem to be under the fridge. I'm trying to remember about the models I've seen with the fridge in the slide, because I don't think they can do it on those.

If you look from the outside, you should see the vent holes. There is usually 2, round, and there is a warning there about it being HOT!!!

I think that this is a failing of most mid-range 5ers. On the 29RLBS there is one 3" foil duct that opens from the side of the vanity, and then the duct in the floor at the top of the stairs. That duct also has holes cut in it to warm the basement. There is no duct in the water closet. Seems like there could be a better heating design for this. Funny though, we don't seem to have trouble with the cooling, only the heating.

Go figger .....

The heater on 30LSBS is located in the storage compartment. I have a draw for under the frig. The bedroom doesn't get very much heat.

I have a 2009 28rkbs with the air bed. It is an Aerobed with the compressor built in. The couch pulls out to form a flat platform and the Areobed sits on it. Pretty simple, but my daughter says that it is very comfortable. Also it inflates very fast. I would think that the setup in the 31TS is similar.

Home now, we were at Vogel State Park in North Georgia (near Blairsville). Very late fall chilly but still a great place.

There is pretty much no heat from the furnace out of the bedroom floor vent. But, I figured as much as that was the case in our old 30LSWB so we had a little electric heater. You get a little heat in the bathroom. The fireplace puts out quite a bit of heat, we were surprised how nice it was. We used to be kind of skeptical about those electric fireplace units.

We have the Aerobed but haven't used it yet. But, out old 5'er had on in the hide-a-bed sofa and we were told it was very comfortable.

I haven't got the pics off the camera yet.

Jim,

We have a Lasko Oscillating Ceramic Tower Heater, it has a thermostat built in and a remote control, which we've never used. It has low & high speeds, 700W & 1500W. I set it for 62 degrees(its off a few degrees) and just let it cycle and it keeps the CAT very comfortable.
