Edge Insight OBD II Monitor
I just got one of these for Christmas. Looks like its going to be a pretty neat little play toy.
I did have to try it out to make sure it works!!!! But then I had to put it away for Christmas.
I know some of you have this, and I did find that the software that comes with it does not work with VISTA. But, i found that if you go to the program's PROPERTIES, and then to COMPATIBILITY and change it to WINDOWS XP WITH SERVICE PACK 2, it works fine.
Ordered it from here:
http://www.autoanything.com/performance-monitors/61A3744A0A0.aspx
If you decide to get one, watch their price, it seems to change, its currently $249. but looks like during the week, it goes to either $269 or $299.

Are you buying your own Christmas presents again? You sound like me. Somehow a new Mile Marker hydraulic winch just showed up at my house. Told the wife "I don't know where it came from, but that would be a great Christmas present". Next it will be a box from Dell.

Re: Edge Insight OBD II Monitor
I just returned my Insight. While it is a neat little gadget, the customer service at Edge leaves a lot to be desired. I have an '08 Super Duty and I got it to monitor the EGT's, tranny temps, MPG, etc for when I pull over the mountains here. The two main reasons were EGT and MPG. The '08 has built in pyros, so I did not have to get the pyrometer, but the MPG feature was non functional. I sent in a trouble ticket and they said it was a known issue and they were working on it. Also, there are a lot a Ford specific codes that, while listed in the menus, the unit does not currently support (things like fuel rail pressure, ambient air temperature). So I waited six weeks, and then got into another e-mail thread with them. Finally they had me call them where their tech basically told me they fix it when the fix it could be next month, could be next year.
Their engineers were too busy on a new product release. That attitude just steamed me and it was back in the box and at UPS the next morning.
The desktop software is pretty easy to use (Upgrade to Windows 7
, better yet, get a Mac, OK, enough Bill bashing). I found it much easier to select the parameters I wanted to monitor and then upload to the Insight. It's also great that when new firmware is released that you can do it right from the computer and don't have to mail it back to the manufacturer for a fee!
Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Yeah, I guess I should post the same thing at the DieselStop that I returned it because of the poor customer service
