Walt Disney World - 11/8 to 11/15/2009

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 11/8/2009, 1:02 pm

There are 4 Wildcats that we know of in Fort Wilderness today. There were a couple loops we skipped because people were trying to back in to their spaces. We'll check them tomorrow.

First Cat is ours - in our favorite site in loop 1300.

Second - loop 16 - logo was 2003 or thereabouts

Third - loop 17 - logo like our 2007

Fourth - loop 2 - logo like our 2007

We got here about 1pm. Had to wait for our requested site. Got in and set up by 2:30. Decided to skip any themeparks today.

Rhino, the number is 1-407-WDISNEY (1-407-934-7639).

Dining reservations can be made by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE. The policy for dining reservations just recently changed. Generally speaking, you can now call 180 days prior to check-in and make your dining reservations for your entire stay. The previous policy was 90 days prior. There are a few exceptions to the 180 day rule.

1334 isn't our favorite. In fact, it isn't on our list. We'll have to look it over next time we drive by, maybe it should be on our list.

Tater, 1334 was great for us because of the kids... the playground, basketball court, and beach volleyball area is right beside you so we could sit under the awning and keep an eye on the kids as they played. It's close to the bus stop too, but for people who prefer something a little quieter and away from the main road, it wouldn't be the best choice.

Rhino, I'd call ASAP. I just checked online and nothing is available for a week starting Dec 19th but if you call, they sometimes have availability. If you can't get a reservation right away, call each morning at 7:00 EST as any cancellations from the previous day are made available the next morning. If you're persistent, you'll probably get the days you are looking for as people cancel reservations the closer we get to that time period. Good luck

Jeff,
We drove past, and saw why it wasn't on our list. We don't have kids and didn't think we'd like to be next to the playground. We have a much more secluded site.

Rhino,
From December 19 to January 3, is a difficult time to get reservations at WDW. As Jeff said, be persistent, as availability changes every day. Also, you might be on hold for awhile, but don't give up. Christmas season is our favorite time to go to WDW.

Monday, 11/9. We spent part of the day at the Hollywood Studios, then came back to put up our patio lights, etc. After that we drove around a few loops. The Cat in 1600 was gone. We couldn't drive through loop 300 on Sunday because someone was taking a long time backing in, but this evening we got through and found a newer model Cat.

I'm sure ya'll rode the tower of Terror at hollywood studios.

That loop 300 can be a booger bear trying to back into any of the spots that are in the sharp curve.

This might be our first trip where we don't ride TZTOT..... unless we go back before Sunday. We just sort of forgot. Oh, well. We'll be back in January.

I had to change my dates from Dec 19 to Dec 14 for a week. Got the reservation and thanks again Tater and North7 for your help. Now I can use that free pass that they gave to the military this year. Wife said no cooking you have to take me out to dinner.

The Cat in loop 300 is gone.

We spotted one in loop 500, and another in loop 1800. The one in loop 1800 is a 29rlbs, pulled by a very dark red Texas Chevy.

11/11
Saw one in loop 400 - the owner said it was a 2008.

Right now, I think there are 5 (counting ours). Loops 400, 500, 1700, and 1800. Maybe 1600 too. That would be 6. Probably won't be looking for Cats tomorrow..... got company coming to stay the night and the day is pretty much planned. Maybe Friday.

11/14

Took our last ride around the campground today. We'll start heading home tomorrow.

Site 1711 - still here
Site 432 - still here
Site 549 - new
Sites 604 and 615 - new ones
Site 1302 - new (31ts)
And us.

That's a total of at least 7 Cats in the campground tonight.
