Bilstein Shocks

Anybody have these? I see Admin's post about Ranchos and wondered if anybody has experience with Bilsteins.

I run the Rancho 9000's but don't have experience with Bilstiens to compare. I have heard they are great.

I'd say that either would be a good buy. We do use Rancho's on the work trucks where I work at, and they seem to hold up good. They tote a tool box / welding gear load 24hrs a day.

The guy at summit said the Bilsteins are great shocks also. He just had lots of miles on grueling terrain and saw what the Rancho's could take. And I'd have to side with him.

But I'd bet theres not much difference between the 2. Bil's are mono, and Rancho's are dual tube's that are supposed to keep the shock cooler when its being worked hard.

? The thing I liked was they were 40 bucks cheaper than the Bil's , that equals to a little over a 1/4 tank of fuel for me ,,,,,,,

Got them, love them, wouldn't want to be without them. My old truck had the Rancho 9000 adjustable without the in cab adjustment option. They were excellent shocks but I got tired of kneeling down and adjusting them. I bought the Bilsteins from ebay and paid $225.00 for a set of 4 incl. shipping (that has been a couple of years now).

I meant that it's sad that $40 will only buy us 1/4 tank of fuel. It hasn't been that long since $40 would fill it up.

Sad but true. But $40.00 will get me currently 1/2 tank but I have to do it more often since I can only go 220 miles max on the 26 gal. tank :(

Got the Bilsteins and got em mounted. Man they are slicker than snot!

I had installed Bilstein's on my last truck, '99 F-350 CC Dually 7.3. They made a world of difference in the ride. I'll wait unitl the facory shocks need replacing on the new truck before switching over though.

You wont regret going Bilsteins. I had RS9000's on my truck & went Bilstiens in the rear & FOX w/resorviors in the front & havent looked back.

Any particular model of Bilstien's? Or, is there only one model?

On mine I used 5100''s on the rear & my front Fox 2.0's are same shock as the 7100's All you really need is the 5100's

I used the recommended OEM replacement since I still have the stock suspension (no lift).

Replaced my stock bilstiens at 90K with another set of them and love them, They are a great shock.

anyone with rancho 9000 adjustable. can you reccomend settings for empty and towing?

follow-up, had the bushings go in my front bilstiens and they replaced both of them under warranty at no cost to me.

WARNING...

Do NOT overload those Bilsteins, you'll rue the day right up until you take them off and put something else on!!

Yessur...it hapened while hauling rock away after breaking up the patio and walkway. "Cattle truck" pretty well describes the ride afterward. I have nothing against Bilsteins, and thoroughly enjoyed them while they were on...until that incident.

Put on a set of Monroe Reflex; great ride and their buy 3, get the 4th free + a factory rebate on a set of 4 was too good to pass up. Purely economical decision.
