BLOWOUT!!! - again
First topic message reminder :
We were eastbound on I-10 in the Florida panhandle - about 3 miles east of DeFuniak Springs. Right alongside of a FDOT crew the right rear trailer tire blew! Those guys told us they thought they had been shot. Scruffy asked if that was us, just as I was looking in the side mirror. I said "Yep, part of the tire just flew off." We pulled over. Scruffy got out to look. A couple of the FDOT guys drove up to where we stopped. Scruffy said he'd call Good Sam Road Service. One of the guys said he would change it if GS couldn't come out real soon - like within half an hour - they had work to do right where we were sitting. GS rep said it would be 45-60 minutes. Scruffy said to cancel it. So, FDOT put cones around the truck and trailer and replaced the tire. Nice guys.
Photos below:

Broke fender, scuffed up side of trailer. The water pipes along that side seem to be okay.

The center tread all the way around peeled off.

Make sure you get metal valve stems put in!! The rubber ones can't handle the extra weight of the sensors. I had them balance the tires on the truck and camper with the sensors installed. Made a big difference in the weight and where they put them.
This is post # 600 for me!!! Yeah

Re: BLOWOUT!!! - again
We have metal valve stems. We replaced the cracked rubber ones less than a year after we bought the trailer.
Congratulations on #600.

Re: BLOWOUT!!! - again
my wildcat was sitting in the yard day before thanksgiving we heard a bang, didn't think much of it. the next day while walking the dogs I noticed a flat tire. Changed it on Saturday and found the inside sidewall blew out. Glad it happened at home. Only about 5000miles on tires. Replaced 5 valve stems in 2007. planning on changing over to 16" tires and wheels load range E before spring. Why don't they put them on at the factory?

Welcome to the group slowtruck!! We are glad you are here. Good thing your tire let go in the yard, and not on the freeway. They don't use the larger wheels and tires due to the cost. And, the coach manufacturer doesn't warranty the tires, the tire maker does.
