Securing an Awning

Post by f150k on 10/26/2009, 4:15 pm

How do you secure your awning on the road? Has anyone used the Camping World " RV Awning Clamp"? I was told that just securing the awning arms would not help. The awning could still unwrap without the arms moving.

Ken,
I have the same as Scottz, seems to work real good. I forget its there most of the time, and the awning doesn't move when its latched.

The odd part of this latch, is its on the rear of the awning, not the front. I guess you depend on the original latch for the front.

Front or rear does not really matter; it just keeps the tube from turning.

Sometimes mine is a little difficult to latch when I put the awning up. I might have to roll it up a couple of times to get it tight enough for the hole to line up with the pin.

Same here, it seems if I let the awning go up a little fast, it lines up quicker.

Same here; I let it go from about 8" out so it firmly sets in place. The awning also will stretch; the longer I have had the awning out, the more I have to fiddle with it to get the latch to lock. Don't misunderstand; this is not a big problem, just the technique to get it latched.
