Kansas City East KOA - 09/29/09
This KOA is located just off I-70, exit 28 in Oak Grove, MO. It's about 30 minutes east of the KC metro area.
It's and older KOA. Now that I've said that, I'm not sure there are any "newer" KOA's, meaning originally built new as a KOA. Seems like they were all built sometime in the late 70's or in the 80's when RV's didn't have slides and something longer than 30' was rare.
The sites are all gravel, and wide enough and long enough for the Ram and the Cat w/ slides. Hook-ups are the standard arrangement. The folks in the office were nice to deal with and we were escorted to our site. WalMart is handy, about two lights and a mile away. There's also a TA and a PETRO at the I-70 interchange (fuel was $2.329/gal. which was the lowest of the trip) Bathhouse was clean and secure (security lock). A good place for an overnight stop and we would stay here again.
