USA RV Park - 09/14/09

The USA RV Park in Gallup, NM is a Good Sam park that by the looks of the "A" frame building was a KOA at one time. This is predominantly a big rig pull-thru park with 105 long (80') wide space with a mix of 30A and 50A sites. They are back to back sites, meaning the curb side of one rig faces the curb side of another rig. On the other side, two rigs share a set of services (2 full hook-ups). I have no problem with that arrangement, although I know that some do.
The owner checked us in. There is a nice pool, great laundry room, which the DW used, clean bathhouses and a well kept look about everything. As you can see from the pix, the sites are all pebble-stone with paved roads throughout the park. They advertise that active duty military can stay free. That's a real nice touch.
Not sure what there is to do in Gallup, but it's a good place to stay.

Gallup has some Route 66 stuff. We stayed there once, and would stay there again.
Just west of Gallup is some awesome scenery. Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park are along the way in AZ. No campground there, but there is a KOA in Holbrook, which is nearby. We stayed there on our last trip with the intention of visiting PD and PFNP again, but we had a slide problem and fixing it took up all of our sightseeing time.
