Has anyone stayed at this CG? I'm trying to find something about 1/2 way between home and Crater of Diamonds, and this fits the bill.

Sorry, I just saw this. I hope I'm not too late with the info. Yes, we've stayed here on several occasions. We found the campground to be very nice. Upon arrival we were greeted by a local flock of Guinies(?) which drove our dog nuts. I'd stay here again and can recommend it to anyone.

I appreciate the feedback. I went ahead and made a reservation with them going down, but could not get one coming back. Apparently they have a BIG apple festival there in Carthage on the weekend of 10-17. However, the lady I spoke to said she wouldn't turn me away if I wanted to stop on my way back through anyway. She said they would accomodate me somehow; Wouldn't be a pad, but they would run an extension cord and water hose out from their house if need be. I am looking forward to giving them a try. Especially now that I've received positive feedback on them.

TC,
On the return, if you just need to stop for the night, there is a flying J at the I-40 / Hwy 71 intersection in Joplin, there is also a campground about 5 miles south of that intersection on Hwy 71, but I have never seen anybody at it. They built it, but I am not sure they ever opened up.
