Replaced Inside Step

Replaced Inside Step
The wife and I got tired of the narrow inside step after missing it a few times at night so I came up with this mod to keep the storage and not interfere with slideout.
I removed the long cabinet door and switched it with one from the rear overhead storage also keeping the access to the water heater.
The steps tops lift off for storage access and the little leg tilts out of the way when the slidout carpet hits it and falls back into place to support the step when the slideout is extended.

The cloth hanging down on the top step is a spring loaded door to keep the dogs out of the bedroom and allows the air to still circulate. It was made with a scrap dow rod, pvc pipe and a spring w/ rubber chair caps on the ends.

Re: Replaced Inside Step
It looks great! That was a very smart idea to have the hinged leg, I don't think many other people would have thought of that - I know I wouldn't have.

Very nice!! Do you plan to carpet the stairs, or leave them as is?

Re: Replaced Inside Step
No carpet for the new steps it would make it too hard to use the storage.
At times the wife would like to see all the carpet go to make it easier to keep the camper clean.
Most campgrounds up here have very sandy roads and pads.
