Plastic mirror door clips

Post by 3littlecoasties on 4/17/2008, 3:24 pm

Does anyone know were to get (or replace with something better) those clear plastic clips that keeps the mirror/door for the closet from sliding open and closed while going down the road? Mine snapped today. It seems to be like a 75 cent piece of equipment.
Thanks,
Eric

Hmmmm have not had that problem yet, but maybe a temporary fix if this happens when you are traveling is to put a small diameter wood rod in the track to keep the door closed. You might check with a cabinet shop for a permanent solution.

I keep waiting for mine to break, I know it is only a matter of time. You might call FR and ask about purchase some. If they want to sell in quantity (10, 20, ?) I would be interested in a couple and I'm sure others might also.

Yeah, the one on the road side broke on mine too. I have a friend who owns a sheetmetal shop. I'm going to have him bend a couple for me out of some 1/32" (.03125") stainless. The SS should keep its spring and never break. cheers

Anybody ever find these? I broke one this weekend. Guess I'll call FR and see what I can find.

You can get them at a Camping World or any RV dealer that has a good inventory of parts. If your dealer doesn't have them in stock he can order them for you. Also if you don't have a Camping World in your part of the woods, you can order them online from Camping World. They are called Mirrored Door Latches and come in a package of two. They might just be made of cheap plastic but they will cost about five bucks.

I bought two sets of those replacement clips, but we got tired of them breaking when you tried to open a door. We took the clips off and use a spring loaded adjustable curtain rod at the bottom edge of each door instead. Much easier (and cheaper!), no more breeakage and the doors stay in place.

One of mine broke a while back, and a local dealer had 'em in stock. I bought two so I would have a spare.

While at the Hershey RV show yesterday, we saw some new closet door latches that some campers had on them.

The one below was on the motor homes, a little blurry, but the part on the left is the handle and you turn it to lock into the clasp that is on the wall.

This one looks like its a replacement for the plastic one that we all have. Its a softer plastic, so it doesn't break, and it has a safety clasp so it will double lock.

But I have no idea which camper these were on. After going into over 100 campers, they all began to look alike.

Ahhhh...sorry I forgot about this question I asked sooo long ago (old age). I was able to find an "aftermarket" replacement at a RV store, very similar, just had to re-drill one hole. However, I like every one else's ideas..

I quickly tired of replacing broken clips. We took them off and instead use adjustable tension rods. We place one at the bottom edge of each door (laid in the track). Works well.
