What type of fluid are you supposed to put in the Hydraulic pump? And how full do you fill it? Thank you

Brad,

On mine the fill cap is on top of the resevoir that the pump is attached to. I use hydraulic oil that I purchased at NAPA. It came in a quart sized plastic bottle. I keep it with all the other fluids (brake fluid, engine oil, etc.) in a special container that is carried in the truck box.

Just remember the slides need to be in to check the level.

Not to overstate the obvious, but since the brake systems on our vehicles are hydraulic systems, I guess that "brake fluid" is really hydraulic fluid, which is a very light grade oil.

Hee, hee, hee lol!

Draining Hydaulic fluid

Post by Wildcat Blessed on 3/20/2012, 7:30 am

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to drain and replace the hydraulic fluid. We purchased a used 2006 29RLBS back in August 2011. The couple we got it from had never done anything to the hydraulics affraid . The fluid is low and it is a brownish color. Any suggestions?

Also if you have hydro landing gear, they need to be retracted as well to check fluid level. If its clear/tan its hydro fluid. If its red, its atf. My 09 came from the factory with hydro fluid. When I had the aftermarket level-up installed they filled it with atf.
If you top it off with the slides out and/or hydro landing gear down, you will overflow the tank and make a huge mess when the cylinders retract.
