Electric log fireplace

Post by ezrider6298 on 7/29/2009, 2:03 pm

Anyone have a faux fireplace in their 'Cat? I have a set of beautiful, crackling sound electric logs (no heat, looks and "atmosphere" only) that I have thoroughly convinced myself that I can fit into a fake fireplace under the entertainment center. I have removed the paneling in that area, took measurements, and am certain that I can make this happen, with enough clearance for the LR slide to close. Anyone done this already? I know this is an option on some higher end units, but I don't think it is offered in the Wildcat. Thoughts?????

Yes I beat yah to it, My wife and I were at a rv show a couple of winters ago and seen electric fireplaces installed in many units and really liked the idea of electric heat instead of lp gas on them nights when you just wanted to take the chill off, I took a couple of measurements and went to the home building centre and found a unit that would fit. It works great, electric fireplaces have come a long way the last few years, You can run the logs and adjust the flame height and you can turn the heat on that is thermostat controled, my wife just loves it, you can see a photo of it in the gallery at the top.

A lot of the new wildcats do have the fireplace / hearter installed and as an option. Actually my 30lsbs is in the shop for the heater part. The 30lsbs entertainment area was redesigned this year, the heater kept triping out on high heat. Forest river has sent a replacement vented panel to allow additional air movement.

I prefer a crackling fire on DVD for ambience, with a floor heater to add a touch of reality. Wink thumbUp
