Fix for sliding closet door broken clasps.

I decided to use velcro and it works fine. No dowels or replacement clasps.

That's a great idea that I could have used two weeks ago when I bought another pair of closet latches. And me with all that unused velcro in the junk drawer of the Wildcat.

Wouldn't you think that those closet latches would all be the same? Nope, there are at least three different styles that I know of. The old design, the new design, and the Wildcat design.
The old design is useless on a Wildcat. The new design will hold the closet door closed but the screw holes don't match up. The third time was the charm when I went to my Wildcat dealer and bought the latches from him.

The velcro works fine and you do not have to move anything to open the closets. I used the squares, but you can cut down the strips to fit the door and they would work fine.

My DW broke another one of the platic latches on our last outing, but I had a spare. I saw a type on a friend's Big Horn that is similar to the cheapo plastic type, but they were black and made of a more flexible material. He got them at a Heartland rally somewhere, and I have searched several parts websites and have been unable to locate them. They appear to be the answer to the breakage problem due to their flexibility. Has anyone else seen these and know where they can be obtained?

I bought a pair of those at my local RV dealer, and yes they do work great. I don't know the name off hand sorry.

Jim,

Which dealer? We'll finally be back in NH on Sunday, after leaving this past January. The only latches that Camping World seemed to have were the clear plastic replacements. Those are the ones that I bought, but they are made of a heavier plasitic than the OEM ones that broke.

Tell me where, and I'll go over and get some.

Hi Mike, Welcome home. I got them at Campers Inn in Kingston, and by coincidence, my camper is there right now getting a few things looked at. They have had it for almost a week now, so if they call me to pick it up, I will look to see if they have any more. Here is a link to what they look like latch

I finally found them at a local dealer. They are the ones described by Jim in the above post. They are manufactured by SEA (Shower Enclosures America, Inc., Ontario, California), and are called "Mirror Door Travel Latches". Per my dealer, they are relatively new, and he only had two sets as compared to a zillion of the old ones. I am usually hesitant to really recommend a product, as some stuff that works well for me may not work for others, but if you have the old style hard plastic ones that are a pain to open and frequently break, try these. What an improvement!!!
