Electric Awning recall????

Electric Awning recall????
I visited my local RV dealer to buy an awning truss for my 08 WC Electric awning, as we all know there is no adjusting a runoff with the electric model. They informed me there is a free "rain dump" recall that will tilt under a certain load of rain.. has anyone else heard of this one?

Adjustable arm
My dealer made me aware of it and ordered and installed the piece. It is basically an adjustable arm on one side but it is not automatic. Actually you have to remember to loosen the nut before you bring the awning back in. It was all done at no charge.

capthowdy is correct on retro fits. I believe it is for the rear arm only. It is a manual adjustment that lets you shorten the arm bringing down the height. I think someone has previously posted the part number to order. The manufacturer must have listened as the new units come with adjustments for both arms.

I think it just goes to show that the people who design RV's have never really used an RV. The need to tilt the awning is basic RV knowledge.

Does anyone have any reference to a recall notice or number? I asked a couple of dealers at the Hershey show and they were unaware of any free adjustable arms.

I agree Richard, but my experience observing RV campers is that many do not have this knowledge. Maybe it's much the same as "commons sense is very uncommon"?

Re: Electric Awning recall????
the item number for the adjustable pitch arm assembly is 3312508.017B . All I did was call Camping World and told them I had a fifth wheel with an electric awning that did not adjust. They knew exactly what part was needed. All I had to give them was my name and address and the part was shipped directly from Dometic at no charge. Hope this helps

Re: Electric Awning recall????
Thanks Eric, I think I'll get my adjustable arm. I called Camping world today and gave them all the information except for a p/n on the arm. I couldn't find a number on either of my awning arms. The guy at Camping World thought they might take the order anyway. I hope they do. Thanks again.. Duke

Makes a huge difference, The part number was on the front limb on the upper side, I'm actually thinking about buying one for the front limb as well. That way you can slant the awning in either direction.

I'll check for that p/n again. I might order another one for the front after I get the replacement. I saw them at the camper show that way. Looked nice, at least you have the option of moving either arm.
