Outdoor Grills.

Post by Mmiller on Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:57 am

Thought I'd share this. I've seen them on a Cowboy cooking show and I'm thinking about getting one. Enjoy.

Looks nice, but I'd be concerned about the center of gravity. I wonder if it would tip easily with a base that much smaller than the fire pan.

Tater,
I don't own one, but I've seen these used on Cowboy Flavor cooking show. They look great and seem sturdy. Take a look at the website below. I love the coffee pot holder.

I like my Weber gas. It's proved to be a good unit since I bought it in June. It stores nicely too.

I don't think I would ever haul something like that while camping, but I can sure see that next to my fire pit in the back yard!! Wink

The best steak I ever ate was grilled on something very similar to this. thumbUp

I looked at cowboyflavor.com and didn't see any of those grills or the coffee pot holder. Nice website, though.

Scruffy,
They use them on the show.....I've never seen the coffee pot, but he does use the grills.

Need to let someone else buy the grills and all of us come over when the foods done!! :)

That is a good sturdy grill. I also have seen it on tv and got a brief glimpse when we were camping once. I carry a ceramic grill. I can smoke, grill and bake on it. The biggest thing is no matter what kind you settle with use natural charcoal not brickets.

I like the looks of the grill but was put off by the price... still... with further investigation I liked the looks of the dutch oven tray and trivet. I could use that when wanting to do a dutch oven cobbler.

That said, I'm curious what others use. I took a Coleman grill, not the fancy red one, but the entry level green with a grill plate. Very uneven cooking. Almost felt like I had only two settings, Antarctica and Ecuador when it came to heat. Great searing grill marks but if you just wanted it to bake a bit more for medium and not burn there was very little latitude. I may go back to my original "Ol Smokey" and go that route. I picked up for the home a vertical smoker that once I looked at it in a different light is small enough to fit in the truck bed so it may be coming on future trips.

I love Webber grills and wouldn't trade my kettle for anything but their camping version is a bit pricey.

Thoughts?

I have a portible aussie grill that I use when camping , tailgating and at home when it is just dw and I. A friend had one and really liked it told me another friend had one and just loved it , he tried it and decided he wanted one. After looking his over told dw I would like to have one. She got me one for fathers day a couple of year ago. As they say the rest is history. I think maybe she likes it because I do all the cooking on it.
