Cable Hook Up

Cable Hook Up
OK I have seen the diagrams for park cable hook up but I am batting ZERO.......
I have a 31 QBSB which I think is less important than knowing that I have an Oleava TV with a concertone system. I hook up to the drivers side cable and then go to the TV and choose the set up for the cable on the tuner and get fuzzy channels after about 20 minutes of wait time. My attenna works better than that,..... What am I doing wrong???

Re: Cable Hook Up
Be sure to turn off your TV ant. amp or your cable will be snowy and not all channels will show up.

Re: Cable Hook Up
If you have a fuzzy picture, the following might not be the answer.
Do you have a plate somewhere in your entertainment center that has two male cable recepticles? For cable, you need to have a jumper connecting those two recepticles. Just use any cable with female recepticles on each end.

Re: Cable Hook Up
Tater's right. Did you hook up the jumper between the two F connectors near the concertone? They do this so you can us it for a satellite receiver using the outside port for direct connection to a dish. The F connector (coax) are an in and an out basically.
If that is not the problem, put the concertone and see if the coax is all hook up. They don't use good crimp F-connectors. They used cheap twist on connectors which can lead to bad signals. You can get a nice stripper and crimper at radio shack for $30-40 to fix them. It made a difference in my signal quality.

jetskier,
Thanks for the info about the stripper and crimper at Radio Shack - that's something we should probably get.

Re: Cable Hook Up
I had problems with my cable on the first trip. Turned out to be the splitter in the wall behind the concertone was installed backwards. Here is some trouble shooting process of elimination steps.
Step one - Run park cable through the window directly to the tv to ensure it works and your wire is not bad.
Step two - connect to camper and run from the bottom (I think) of the two jumper connections to be sure the wire from the outside to inside is working and has good connections.
Step three - install jumper at this point you should have a picture if the concertone and tv connections are good.
Hope this helps, its what I did to eliminate potential area for the problem. On my camper both splitters where backwards so I couldn't get a signal in the rear bedroom or outside under the awning. The second splitter was located behind the stove.
Good Luck

I gotta get my eyes examined. In step one, I thought the last words were "your wife is not bad." :)
