Re: Generator Capability
Runs continuously for up to 20.5 hrs. without refueling (at 1/4 load*) ??????????????
That statistic is a little deceptive!! Quarter load rate is only 700 watts.
However, the specs as a whole looks to be enough to run a standard 30a RV, as long as you don't pay attention to the running hours parts. Fuel re-fill rate would be about 5 hrs if you've got the AC + other stuff running continuously.

Re: Generator Capability
Max amps is 25 so you would not be able to run everything as if you where plugged in to a service. You would be able to run most everything but things like the A/C and microwave would probably have to be run seperatly if needed. You would definitly have to run the WH and refrig on gas I would think. If you take away the 15amps for your A/C you only have 8amps left for the remainder of the Camper.
You really need a min of 3600 watts to fully run a 30amp service on a generator. Thats 3600 rated load watts not max. IMO a generator will not last if you plan to run it at max output and you risk burning up equipment due to potential of having low power.
Just my opinion on the matter.

Re: Generator Capability
I'd say it'd be ok if you manage your power usage as said above.
My onan 5500W uses a 30#/7 gallon bottle of propane in about 8 hours at full load (using only the 30A circuit). I don't have anything on the second 20A HACR circuit for a second AC (yet) to drawn it down faster.
Again the best $2995 I spent when I ordered the WC. That's from the factory, installed.

If I am just running the A/C and the TV how long do you think I will get withour refueling?

Re: Generator Capability
Purely a guess, but you would probably get around 5 hours out of it. I have about the same Onan as Jetskier, but I had to install it and it is gas powered. I burn 8 gallons in 12 hours. That is with the converter charging, A/C running cold enough to make ice (the wife is very warm blooded), the TV playing a DVD, and the fridge on electric. All this still doesn't make the Onan work very hard, I agree with Hunter, things are more efficient if they are not run at max load all the time, hence the 5500 k onan.

Re: Generator Capability
I'll add my two cents. As said by Hunter, it is not good to run at max. I have to two Honda 2000w units. The nice thing is if you don't need the a/c, you can run only one unit. and they are light enough to move around. Yes, they do cost more, but I have a margin of extra capacity and portability.

You will need a minimum of 3500 running watts. You still need to watch that you don't run the air conditioner or toaster together. I think a 5500 unit would be the best size. I have a 2800 watt unit and it almost handles my conditioner, almost.
