Hi all!
Hello, We just bought our first Cat. Well our first camper to put it honestly. I am learning alot from this forum and am excited to take the first trip. I thank you all for your input as it has helped me tremendously. I will be leaving TX for GA at the end of the week and if anyone has any safety tips or just good information, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Nick

Re: Hi all!
to the forum, Nick. Sorry you're moving from Texas, it's a great state. While you still live here, you could go to the "What state are you from?" poll at the top of "Meet the Members" and register yourself for Texas. :-)Tater

Re: Hi all!
Welcome to the forum. i'm glad your first thought for the road was Safety tips....
Don't forget to Chock those wheels,,,,, Before you pull that release handle.
Don't forget to double check , double check, then walk around one more time, and double check that the 5th wheel jaws are fully closed. I Paint the tips of my jaws,,,, so do a few others.
Be safe my friend,,,,, and may your rubber never fail.....
that just didn't sound right did it,,,,, Don't have a blow out,
check that air pressure,,,,,

Re: Hi all!
I wish...I just got a job at the Marine Corps base in Albany. We are going to live somewhere near there. Not in Albany though, I have heard alot of bad things about that area.
Aunt and Uncle are Carolyn and Larry Ellis. Do you know them?

Re: Hi all!
Welcome Nick and Family!
Your going to fit right in!! "NandKfromFla", living in Texas, moving to Gerogia!?!? Must be some story behind that......
Something like mine, grew up in Florida, worked in Virginia, married a Coloradan, moved to Colorado.......
BUT we both own 'Cats!
Welcome again and safe travels and many memories.

Re: Hi all!
My story is this; Born in Chicago, grew up in Florida, got married, moved to Texas for my job and now moving to Georgia for my job again. With all the driving we do to see family and friends, we figured it best to get the cat. However on my way to Georgia i broke down. I started getting a rattle in the engine compartment, then white smoke started billowing from the tail pipe and I had no power. Now my truck is at the dealership waiting for them to open on Monday, My cat is at a secure parking lot and my kids and I are moving hotel to hotel due to availability. Luckily my parents were on their way from Florida to Georgia to meet us, they just made a detour to help us get around.
Uh! Not how I planned my first week at my new job to be.

Re: Hi all!
Wow! That's a real bummer. If it takes awhile for the dealer to get it fixed, would it be possible to have someone tow your 'Cat to a nearby campground? It would sure be more comfortable for your family.
Best of luck with the repairs and with the new job. Everything will be okay.

Re: Hi all!
Well it turned out that the turbocharger was bad. Apparently the bearing was bad and the white smoke was due to the oil/grease from the turbo. I should be back on the road tomorrow afternoon.
