WC's in Lakewood CG, Myrtle Beach, SC

Post by jamesb on 7/19/2009, 12:28 pm

Just returned from a week in Myrtle Beach, SC at the Lakewood Campground. Wholly cow at the Wildcat's. At a campground with 2000 campsites, seems like every row had some model of a Wildcat on it. Three were on the same row as ours. Talked to several and passed the word of this GREAT forum. No numbers were posted on their WC's. Felt like we could have had a "Wildcat Rally". LOL. Laughing

James,

I hate I missed you. I was there this week and saw all of the cats. Do you have numbers on your cat? I don't have the numbers on mine yet but I will. We were in campsite 1305. Where were you camped. I saw a new style like mine over by the lake but when I road by there was nobody around. We got plenty of rain the last two days we where there. I saw an awing fold up in the middle of the roll because of the rain storm. I never seen one break in the middle like that. We will be headin to Steele Creek this weekend for some much needed post vacation rest with nice clean mountian water to rinse off all that salt!! lol!

Sorry we missed you all. We were on site 2104, near the indoor pool. I don't have any numbers yet, but are still thinking about it. I kept looking at the new one next to the lake also, nice WC. I'm still trying to get use to the new nose caps. I just installed a pin box cover on mine before we left for the beach. Finally, covered up the ole ugly black pin box. The wind was pretty strong at times. I had my awning tied down both ways, and still thought about rolling it up. I've seen one awning get ripped off, and that was enough. Steele Creek sounds good, man, I bet that water will be cool. Always is. We will be going there in about three weeks. Hope to see you guys some place.

Yes Lakewood borders Pirate land and is seperated by the stormwater stream that runs into the ocean on the South end of Pirate Land. I have never stayed at Pirate Land so can't compare. Lakewood is very laid back and family oreinted. It is owned by a Christian couple and they have alot of church youth groups who come down and have activities for the kids all day long. There is always something going on for kids to do. They have two pools one indoor and one outdoor with slide (kids love it). A big pond you can fish in or ride paddle boats, putt putt course. The one thing I don't like is you can't take a golf cart and it cost as much to rent one as the campsite almost within $5 a day. They also have regular church services on Sunday and Wednesday and usually will have somekind of band in during the week.
And the big Plus is they have the extra 20 amp outlet for my 2nd A/C, you said Pirate Land didn't. lol! A friend of mine stays at Pirate Land and he loves the Lazy River. We were planning to do a drive thru while down this year but as usual got busy and forgot until it was too late.

I looked down the beach at OceanLakes and I don't think I could stay there. You couldn't see the beach for so many ppl.

Check it out!

Pirate land has a lot for kids also. Giant pool/lazy river/putt putt, and you can bring a golf cart.,,,,
