Locking Hitch Pins

Post by kwf904 on 7/16/2009, 1:39 am

Can anyone point me to a place that I can buy a couple locking hitch pins? I tried to use the ones I have from my tow bar (from previous motorhome), but they are too short. I have found a number of places online, but it's hard to tell if they would be long enough to fit thru the holes and still lock. My hitch is a PullRite Super Fifth 16k. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jim

Are you referring to the hitch pins to lock the 5th wheel hitch to the bed rails?

If so, I drilled out one of my four hitch pins so I could put one of those trailer coupler locks through the pin hole in place of the hair pin.

I can take a picture if you wish.

Jetskier,
Yes that is what I am talking about. That is a great idea. What size bit would that need for a lock like that?

That assumes you have the slots in the bolts.

You really only need one lock. If they can get one lock off, they can get 4. At that point, they can have the hitch.

Locking Hitch Pin

Just don't be too confident in them. I cut my cousins off of his hitch because the lock corroded, and it took me less than 30 seconds with a dremel with a carbide cutting blade.

That's what's nice about the lock I used. It's hard to reach the bar to cut.
