New Concertone problems...need help
Ok, The RV dealer installed the new and improved Concertone, however went to test it out once I got home (big mistake, should have done there) and everything seems to work, except the outside remote sensor. So instead of going back to the dealer, I pulled the face plate off and pulled the unit out and was shocked at what I saw. I'll post the pictures here and if anyone can tell me what they go to, I'll be forever indebt to them. There was a white wire running towards the exterior that was bare and unconnected, then there was a black wire coming off a little black box-bare and unconnected and then another black wire with a speaker plug. Everyone please take a look and give me your advice...thanks!!
Eric

Eric,
ISNT THAT SPECIAL!!!!!!
Sorry, I cant help, I have the old unit.
Maybe we all should start sending e-mails to Rod at FR (rbatts@forestriverinc.com) each time we find something wrong and he can keep track of this, then when they get to 10 on the same item, they can FIRE the guy thats in that job.

Sounds good too me!! I'm not that techincal savy but I just figured out the black wire with plug issue, the dealer never pluged it in! It was the wire for the IR sensor outside for the remote. Now I just have to figure out what the bare white and black wires are for.

Re: New Concertone problems...need help
Well, I finally got frusterated and called the number on the back of the concertone and took me right to FR, the lady transfered me to Rod who was extreamly friendly and helpfull. He had a unit right there and tried looking at the factory wire diagrams and we concluded that the dealer screwed up in the wiring. Now, here's the deal when I plug the IR sensor (outside one) into the RCA plug it suppose to go into, the remote won't work inside the rig or outside, but when I leave it unplugged the remote works inside only. Rod and I were both confused on that. I'm really excited about the new concertone, it's just not up to it's full/design functions yet. Rod thinks that the two bare wires are suppose to be conected for the ground. If I'm not mistaken, Red is HOT, and Black is GROUND right? The red wire coming out of the unit is connected to a red wire but the black wire isn't. Now the white wire running up through the floor is that considered a GROUND too?? Well, I'm going to call the dealer tomarrow and see what they say...

In automotive wiring, generally black is ground, red is hot.
I noticed they follow household wiring where white is ground and black is hot.

The black wire coming out of the concertone is the ground side of the Concertone power. That little black box is a ferrite choke to keep noise out of the system. The white wire is probably the ground coming from the trailer (an ohm meter can verify that), should be connected to the black wire. The mini-RCA plug - I don't know, I don't have one of those.
For future reference, most 12VDC automotive type equipment uses red for hot and black for ground. Most RV's (including Wildcats) follow residential wiring color codes even on the DC side. Black is hot and white is ground (neutral).
Be very careful. Black on your truck is ground. Black on your trailer is hot (both DC and AC wiring).

The mini RCA is the IR receiver from the bedroom or outside.

Re: New Concertone problems...need help
We bought a 2009 Wildcat 24 RL 8 days ago, and today We saw our Wildcat ,it had hitch hook up problems so we couldn't bring it home, I'll tell ya I don't think it's ever coming home. No, LOL... They're bringing it straight to our house Monday because of the hitch problems, anyway the stereo system isn't a Concertone I noticed, it's a Linear Series LS6050DVD Am/FM/WB Receiver w/ CD/DVD Player. Just passing along the brand info, and wondering why the brands are different in ours, but when I googled it to see how much they were I couldn't find anything on them. That's all I wanted to say. Bye.

I believe the west coast models don't have the Conertone anymore and are only being used on the east coast models.

Will have to watch for reviews on this one. When my concertone take a dump again, might have to spring for this unit as it is nice and contained. But will definitely have to see how it holds up.

I did a quick look at my new trailer today at the dealer and it has the conertone. Trailer just came from the factory and I'm waiting on the dealer to PDI yet. So the east coast models still have the conertone systems. Trailer is a 2009 28RKSB East Coast.
