Travel-L-Resort, Emerald Isle, NC

Post by hunter_jb04 on 7/7/2009, 2:56 pm

Wildcat spotted. Wildcat parked right beside us in spot #57. We just got in this evening so I haven't seen the owners yet to see if there on this site.

Sorry I haven't answered your question. We just got back home yesterday and he second half of our trip I didn't have internet. The Travel-L-Resort wasn't bad. I have some pictures I will post as soon as I find the wire to the camera. Somewhere between the house and the camper!! The park is a couple rolling hills from the ocean. The spot we had was on top of the hill with a pretty large drop in elevation. I had major problems getting my camper level and not have a 2ft step to get it it. I also made some notes on other sites I would try to get if we go back. I will post that as soon as I find it..LOL can't find anything it seems. They have a nice campground but its a little pricey IMO. We paid $75 a night and where in the middle section not oceanfront. We also went to Lakewood at Myrtle Beach and its only $56 and I was 150 yds from the water. I will get those pics and site numbers posted as soon as I find my stuff. If your looking for somewhere to relax its a great place. There is not alot to do unless you fish. We went to the lighthouses on Ocrakoake and Hatteras. It took one long day to do it, started at 5:00AM and got back at 9:30PM. 2 hours drive to ferry, 2-1/2hr ferry ride to get to Ocrakoake, another 40 min ferry ride to Hatteras. We had around an hour to spend at Hatteras before we had to get back to the ferry's. The last ferry leaves Ocrakoake at 5PM so I didn't want to miss it!!

There is also the NC aquarium and the USS North Carolina Battleship thats pretty close. Historic area of Willmington is nice as well.

There is another campground on the North side of the Sound on the Outerbanks. I have never stayed there but it would be closer if your interested in the lighthouses. We were going to Myrtle Beach and I didn't want to make the extra 7hr drive to get there so we stayed on the south end.

More to come...
