Nevada - Valley of Fire State Park

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 7/6/2009, 5:09 am

When we went to Las Vegas in May (2009), we did some sightseeing. One of the places we visited was Valley of Fire State Park. We enjoyed driving through and stopping now and then to take photos. We got there early in the day before it got too hot. I know the "fire" refers to the beautiful red rock, but I'm sure it gets it gets hot as fire (well, maybe not that hot) in the afternoons.

Yes. We're inside a "beehive." That's what they call this particular group of formations. In the photo right above the one of us are two beehives. I believe the one behind the sign is the one we are in.

Great pictures Tater! Do you have any idea whether those rocks were formed by wind or water?

BTW...You guys are a good looking couple. Wink

The formations were shaped by the wind. Wind and sand.

There was a visitor center in the center of the park with a museum that was very informative.
