Big Oaks in Rehoboth Del is the absolute worst!! STEER CLEAR!!

My family and I just returned from 5 days of pure hell at the Big Oaks campground. From the second we walked into the office to check in you could sense the complete ignorance from the working staff, it was like we were putting them out just to check in. One of the folks I later discovered was the owner and wouldn't even get out of her recliner behind the counter to help us out, and the ones that did had NO sense of humor or people skills. But I figured lets not jump to conclusions until we get settled in. We were told to follow the golf cart to the site which we did. Our site was in with the permanent trailers and was virtually a ghost town with weeds growing around most of what looked like abandoned trailers. When we voiced our concern about moving ,well you know how that goes we were in the only available site. Keep in mind we booked 2 months before hand. So here we are making the best out of a bad situation trying to find the positives and show our kids a good time, but the worst was yet to come. This was a rainy week but I have camped in rain before and there are worse things,and we found them. When looking around at the other sites we noticed all the permanents had decks on them, strange I thought but soon found out why. When it rained we were under water and I mean "MUDDY RUIN YOUR STUFF WATER". Every time it rained there was a current of water heading for us!!The folks that showed up later were previous tenets of the 3 Seasons campground that unfortunately closed down 3 years before and were forced to move here if they wanted to remain close to the beach. These are unhappy folks that just cannot stand the owners but stay for convenience to the beach, another words there putting up with the inconvenience to be close to the beach. They have asked time and time again for gravel to be poured to help control the mud issues but to no avail. We told the we couldn't figure out why they put us in this spot and were told its all about money with these owners and not your satisfaction or vacation happiness. I understand its going to rain at times but this is a campground and should be setup and maintained to certain standards like if you know there's an issue with severe runoff and mud maybe pour gravel and raise the sites. If your going to charge a premium price then deliver a premium product not a lake for a site. We have been camping for 12 years so its not that were asking for the impossible, just what we pay for.I'm trying to save others from messing up a hard earned vacation and put the word out that RV'ers will not stand for this type of treatment from money hungry campground owners that put there income before your enjoyment. They need to understand it may be there job but more importantly its OUR VACATION. THERE ARE ONLY A COUPLE MAYBE 3 CAMPGROUNDS NEAR THE BEACH BUT DO NOT GO TO BIG OAKS IN DELAWARE. On a side note there are virtually NO activity's for the kids and the snack bar at the pool was open for a few hours on Sunday. PLEASE PLEASE e-mail me with any questions before you try and book. I would hate to see your family in this vacation situation and feel free to post this on other sites.
