Concertone zx600 Removal Procedure?

Post by misnpete on 6/21/2009, 1:47 am

Hello Everyone,

....(wiping feet on welcome mat)..... Great site you have here.

I was wondering if you any of you folks know how to remove the radio from the cabinet?

Does the face plate come off? If so, I can't seem to figure out how to remove it.

Many thanks!

Pete

The face plate must come off first. Look at the bottom of the face plate, there will be two slots one at each end. Stick a flat head screw driver in each slot and twist to loosen. Then just pull the face plate off gentley. There will be a couple of screws in the corners of the unit, just unscrew and pull the unit out.

Stereo pulled out and sent to Forest River for replacement. Basically all quick connects. Real easy to pull out. Took pictures of every connection in case the new one is different. Simple job. Now that it is out I can clean all the sawdust and wood chips out. Don't these people know how to clean as U go.

Dan,

Almost everywhere that I've worked on the Cat I've found sawdust and woodchips. The worst and most unexplainable was the backflow preventer on the blackwater tank flusher. It was packed with sawdust so that no water could get through. And yes, I found the same pile up behind the Concertone that you did. Go figger.

When DW and I picked up our, I asked them to turn A/C fan on to see if it worked and the tech told DW to watch out for the sawdust coming out of the overhead vent. And it did. He said he didn't why but it always comes out when it gets turned on for the first.

The way they cut threw the walls behind the stereo . wow. Must of use a small chain saw. Anyway I got my new stereo back and installed. The gremlins are out playing in my wicked possessed kitty again. Something weird happened when I closed the slides. Short story. Wiring problems from day one. Radio wire bad so it operates directly off the battery. Plus and minus. Wires run to a switch which disconnects battery from coach. Switch is off, no 12 volt power to coach or radio now. Got lazy and feed 110 to the coach so I could use the 12 volts off the converter to close slides. Remember radio has no power. When I started closing the bedroom slide the load feature came on in the stereo for a little bit then quit. Go figure that one. Exorcism needed soon me thinks.

I think the team at the factory leave all the saw dust and other debris
to keep the cost of waste disposal down, that way they have not got to employ somebody on waste disposal, less storage needed for waste another Cat can be built in its place

Not hard to do. Majority is plug and play. Pictures - Well they are history. About three months ago computor died. When I got it back the old Portagie tried to load the backup and lets just say He screwed it up and now there is no backup. Sry about that. If U have a digital camera take pictures before U unplug each plug. That helps.

That can happen. Check your antenna first. Mine has a habit of folding over when I hit a leaf.

Well my fully operational 600 has lasted 1 year. Now it starts to fall apart. Function button is supposed to have 4 selections. Down 2 and counting.
