Camping near Great Smokies Mountains NC

Post by NC Firefighter on Wed Jun 17, 2009 8:39 am

Does anyone have a CG to recommend near the Great Smokey Mountains? I have stayed at the Cherokee KOA but we are going this trip to either Bryson City or Dillsboro. Any suggestions?

Holly cove CG is supposed to be pretty nice.
I think theres a few on the river at Nantahalla River.

The fort wilderness looks interesting ... looks like its kid oriented.

The wifey and I have stayed at River Plantation and Rippling Waters in Seviervillle. Both are great campgrounds with very accomadating host. Prices are very reasonable. Both are on the Little Pigeon River. Close to Tanger Outlet and all of the other tourist traps. I last stayed at RW last October and at that time their cable was out and they did not expect it to be fixed anytime soon. So, if cable TV is an isue you may want to give them a call. Both have web sites. RP is our favorite.

Good Luck
