NM - Santa Rosa Campground and RV Park
This is a former KOA. As with most KOAs and former KOAs, it was very well planned. There was a pool behind the office. The comfort stations and dumpsters were conveniently located. Our site was a long pull-thru with a good amount of space between us and the sites on each side. We had a good view of the high desert that surrounds Santa Rosa.
It started raining on us about 5 minutes before we got into Santa Rosa. We found the campground, and pulled in line into the area where we register.... one trailer was waiting ahead of us. We were on a little hill and looked down into the campground. There was water everywhere. We drove down and found that the roads and our site were very firm. The entire camping area was level. Setting up, we did have to put a 2x6 board under each tire on one side.
We went out to refuel the truck, and when we got back all of the standing water had soaked into the ground. The manager mentioned that it hadn't rained since last October.

Office

Looking down from registration area - that's one of the comfort stations down the lane. It is pretty much in the middle of the park.

Our site

Sites are pretty wide.

The back of the office. Pool and playground are located here.

Re: NM - Santa Rosa Campground and RV Park
Glad to hear the Santa Rosa RV Park is still in good shape. We last stayed there over 10 years ago when it was a KOA. We were through there earlier this week and decided to stop in Tucumcari at the KOA as we knew the camp ground, and weren't sure what we would find in Santa Rosa (also was tired of driving).
We had a good rain in Tucumcari, but then it was dry all the way to Las Cruces. Glad to see more rain in the state.
Have a safe trip the rest of the way home

Gary and Glenda,
We were going to stop at either Santa Rosa or Tucumcari. We were getting tired about the time we got to Santa Rosa, and we definitely didn't want to drive in the rain. How do you like the KOA in Tucumcari? We'll probably stop there sometime.

The Tucumcari KOA looks a lot the Santa Rosa KOA. It is East of town, very quiet with no highway noise. They have a small cafe in the store which serves breakfast and dinner. Food has been fairly good, with breakfast being better than dinner. We often drive a hard day to get there and enjoy letting them cook. You can order and they will deliver, so you can go in and set up and have your meal in the 'Cat about the time you are finished with set up. They do have side by side hookups, which can put your street sides close together, but you have a big space in front of the door. They do disperse units so side by side hook ups are used only when that is all that is left.
