I believe the west coast models do have better insulation, but I am not sure. Somebody with more knowledge will chime in. You can get a 13.5 or a 15k airconditioner based on how you order.

West has 6000# axles, East only has 5200. I think Wast has 16" wheels and they are an option on East coast. Im sure there's more, just not sure.

West Coast also has a larger water heater option.

The only real difference I know of is that my TT (25RKS) wasn't available in the east.

dcpuller,

I'm not sure of all the differences, the axles to me is huge! I would really like to have the 6k# axles.

In addition, I would like to welcome you and your family to the site!

I just checked my serial number, and it has a W and then an F in it, but mine is definitely an EAST coast unit.

I have a "W" in the 5th position on my west coast model. But it's proceeded by an "F". Which together could mean fifth wheel.

on edit....see below.

Re: wildcat question

Post by jetskier on 6/1/2009, 8:57 am

Here's what I put together from a search and comparison of a few searches. I just searched VIN decoder and used that as a model to figure out the rest. This is not official, just some educated guesses. I'm not sure if there is a digit for the model name beyond the length.

1-3 is the world manufacturer identifier (digit 1 is country ("1", "4" & "5" are U.S.A.), digits 2-3 are for Manufacturer - "X4" = Forest River)
4 is the trailer type (F for fifth wheel, T for travel trailer)
5-6 is the line (i.e. WC for Wildcat, SM for Salem, CA for Cardinal)
7 is the length (Z= 24RL, A = 25RL, B= 26 (not used), C=27RL, D=28RKSB/28RKBS, E=29RLBS/29BPBH, F=30LSBS/30LOFT, G=31QBH/31THSB/31TS/31QBSB, H=32QBBS, K=34RLT
8 is the number of axles
9 check digit (this is a fun calc. Procedure found here.)
10 digit is the year (i.e. 2 = 2002, A=2010, B=2011) - Model Year Encoding
11 digit is the manufacturing plant code. ("T" is Dallas, Oregon, "V" is Elkhart, Indiana)
12-17 is the production sequence (i.e. serial number)

That sounds good to me! I'll have to check my VIN to see if it falls in line with your secret decoder ring!
