TX - Midland/Odessa - Midessa Oil Patch

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 5/13/2009, 3:43 pm

Oil Patch is a pretty close description.. it's located in the middle of an industrial park - where the industry is oil drilling.
That isn't so bad, though. It was relatively quiet, with the businesses closing early in the evening. The campground is a former KOA. It has the A frame office, cabins and other KOA type amenities. The sites are fairly close together. Each site has a tree, which was nice. This is the second time we've stayed at Oil Patch, and we're likely to stay here again.

I passed through Midland/Odessa on Friday and again on Monday on our trip to El Paso (Ft. Bliss). Sometimes the smell is a bit overpowering! You get that distinct smell of the oil industry!

The smell around Odessa Tuesday morning was awful! We had the bathroom vent open in the 'Cat (we always leave it open), and quite some time later, we stopped at a rest area, and the smell was still inside.

It cleared out before our next stop.
