Added a water saver sprayer to the toilet

Post by Mopar_Earl on 5/9/2009, 4:10 pm

Hello all,
I added a water saver sprayer to my toilet. I attached pics of before and after. The water saver did come with a wall holder for the sprayer, but I didn't want to make holes in the wall, so I used this handy shower holder suction cup made by Thetford. It holds great to the china bowl. This kit came from my RV dealer and fits a couple models. I believe I paid 40 bucks for it. Was easy and quick to install. There is a plastic hose nipple on the back on the toilet that you cut the tip off and than hose clamp this sprayer to it. I did not have to remove the toilet but if you need too, the kit comes with new mounting seals.

Great mod, I've been looking at doing this to ours. Thanks for the picture that included the part number.

It saves water by using the sprayer for "stains" in the bowl instead of trying to clear the "stains" with normal flushing, which takes a lot of water or it doesn't work at all since the water isn't under pressure. The next person doesn't have to be grossed out and you save water without any embarrassment. lol! I dry camp 99.9% of the time, so this is a very good mod for me. Most high end RV's come from the factory with the water saver option. Been around since the late 80's as far as I can remember.

Is the hose under pressure at all times or just when you push the pedal?

Scottz, the sprayer only has pressure when you push the pedal. Works well, haven't had a chance to battle any stains with it yet, but appears promising.

Scottz, I know WC uses the Thetford Aqua Magic style II toilet which has a china bowl, 2008 up to the current 2010 trailers. Not sure when they started putting them in. Toilet has a china bowl and the base is plastic.

OK, call me stupid, but I'm pretty sure these are used the way a bidet would be used in European countries. You know, washing the body part that's just been used.

Our '06 has the china bowl, don't remember if it was an option or not, but we have it.

I checked mine, it is the Aquamagic Style Lite. It has a china bowl within a plastic housing.

I'm wondering why you have to pay $40 for the sprayer from Thetford. Wouldn't any sprayer work?

Yea, but do you sit on the toilet and face backwards or frontwards when using the wonder wand ? I was thinking you sat on a bidet according to what part you wanted to wash.

Scottz, a kitchen sprayer would work if the hose size was the correct ID and if you can buy the sprayer and hose only. I didn't have time to shop around or engineer anything. I just called my dealer for the Thetford one.

Bought a sprayer & hose today at Lowes for $9. I'll try it tomorrow (test fit before I cut nipple) and let you know how it works.

Actually I have used the shower head from the tub/shower to help with the...uuhhmmm...stains. I guess that is one of the advantages of having the throne in the same room as the tub. Of course there are some disadvantages as well!

Picked this up at Lowes for $9.

Cut the fitting off the end of the hose, add a .40 hose clamp; works perfectly. When you cut the nipple off the toilet, you just barely cut the tip off. There are two lines at the tip, cut between them.

I used a large cup hook as the holder, had to spread it out a little.

I have the plastic bowl, and we don't have an issue with "stains". I always make sure to put toilet paper in the bowl first, and that seems to solve the problem.

this thread subject turned to crap.

and i had a visual of a person who may(or not) have had too much to drink, and trying to ride my poor potty backwards like a bidet....

i mean......who in the hell came up with the underside wash anyway ?? that would be like putting your drawers on after a shower and not drying off...........
