Upgraded the bath faucet

Post by Mopar_Earl on 5/6/2009, 5:42 pm

Hello all,
Thought I'd post pics of my bath faucet upgrade from the cheap ugly weird operating handles to a cool brushed nickel faucet. I bought this faucet at Lowes for 43 bucks. I just need to find a brushed nickel button to put in the hole for the stopper rod since it's not being used.

Earl

Looks great Earl. I'll be heading to Lowes tomorrow for the same upgrade.

I did the same thing, except I used a chrome fixture with ceramic handles. For the hole for the stopper rod, before installation, I used a chrome "acorn nut", held in place by a small machine screw from underneath. Wish I could do something with the shower fixture. Any ideas???

That is a nice mod!! Why not go ahead and put the stopper rod it? Doesn't matter if it is attached or not, just secure it somehow and it will be solid.

We didn't do anything with the plug. We still use that cheap looking white one.

Nice upgrade...looks really sharp. I've upgraded my kitchen faucet only, installed one with the pull out spray head. We've really enjoyed that upgrade. Haven't touched the bathroom faucet yet.

Scruffy and Tater,
That's what I did too, was put the white plug into the new faucet. Seems to look ok, but I'll check the next time I'm at Lowes and see if they sell such a thing in brushed nickel.

moo2613,
I put the rod in the hole and it was sloppy and such. I may see if I have a die small enought to fit the rod, cut it down, thread it and put a nut on it. Than I'd have a real fake stopper rod. lol

I guess I didn't read the above messages very well and thought you all were talking about the plug in the sink.

Our faucet has the hole for the stopper rod. Scruffy just stuck the rod down in the hole, I don't think he fastened it. It's heavy enough that it doesn't jump out. Anyway, if someone else uses our bathroom sink, they might be surprised when the whole rod comes out if they think it controls the drain plug. :)
