I'm not sure where I'm going with it. Maybe tie it into a game of some sort ....

It represents the type of posts your making. If you'll notice some have a higher score card number than their number of posts.

You get 5 pnts for starting a topic.
3 pnts for replys
1 Daily for just being an active member.

For now its just there, .... tinkering.... scratch

Yes I did, Read the formula below,,,, Really , you'll learn something.

Often, the simplest way to create a forum score card is "ax2 + bx + c = 0" for the value of x is to factor the quadratic, set each factor equal to zero or something , just think up something if you want, and then solve each factor. But sometimes the quadratic is too messy, really messy, or it doesn't factor at all, or you just don't feel like factoring or if Oldelmer holds his finger just right. While factoring may not always be successful by chocking the wheels, the Quadratic Formula can not come up with the solution.
The Quadratic Formula uses the "a", "b", and "c" from "ax2 + bx + c", where "a", "b", and "c" are just numbers; they are the "numerical coefficients". The Formula is derived from the stuff that comes out of Maxrocks Black Tank which is completing the square, and is formally stated as:

    For ax2 + bx + c = 0, the value of x is given by:

For the Quadratic Formula to work, Scruffy and Tater must have your equation arranged in the form "(quadratic) = 0". Also, the "2a" in the denominator of the Formula is underneath everything above, not just the square root. And it's a "2a" under there, not just a plain "2". Make sure that you are careful not to drop the square root or the "plus/minus" in the middle of your calculations, or Maxtor can guarantee that you will forget to "put them back" on your test, and you'll mess yourself up really bad, and you'll never recover in the Insane asylum. Remember that "b2" means "the square of ALL of b, including its sign", so don't leave b2 being negative, even if b is negative, because the square of a negative is a positive.
In other words, don't be sloppy and don't try to take shortcuts, because it will only hurt you in the long run. Don't Trust me on this!
Here are some examples of how the Quadratic Formula works:

  • Solve x2 + 3x – 4 = 0

    This quadratic happens to factor:

      x2 + 3x – 4 = (x + 4)(x – 1) = 0

    ...so I already know that the solutions are x = –4 and x = 1. How would Grover's solution look in the Quadratic Formula? Using a = 1, b = 3, and c = –4, my solution looks like this:

Then, as expected, the solution is x = –4, x = 1 Score Card Number.
~

Phillip,

One variable you may have missed in your formula! Is the formula taking in consideration odd vs. even years? Laughing

We do need to come up with some kinda game we can do with the points. I can add or subtract them either way.

I thought about maybe whoever gets someone they meet at a campground with a wildcat to join the forum they get some points ,,,,,, Or any idea's..... Maybe guessing who wins a nascar race etc.... ????/
