Some Small Mods
We just finished some small mods for our 'Cat.

Scruffy made 3 of these stands for the sewer hose. The rigid white thing under the hose came from Camping World shortly after we bought the trailer. He saw something similar to these stands in a campground, and designed this. The 3 stands are different heights. The middle sections of each aren't glued in, and can be removed. He cut a few extra pieces in different lengths that he can use to adjust the heights as needed.

We didn't like the wooden hooks that are on the legs of the table. It was very difficult for Tater to lift the chairs off, and one of them just wouldn't release the chair. After the table got very wobbly from forcing the chair off the hook, we got this strap - it works very well. Scruffy tightened the table so it isn't wobbly anymore.

These chair covers will keep the chairs from getting chipped if they bump together while we're traveling.

Amazing what you can do with some PVC pipe, a hacksaw and a little ingenuity.

Re: Some Small Mods
I like the idea for the chair covers, ours has a nick or 2 from them hitting.
We turned our table and moved it into the corner, and only carry 2 chairs with us.
Turning and moving the table into the corner, gives us room to put the swivel chair between the couch and the table for when we pack up and bring the slides in.
NICE JOB!! thanks for sharing......

Re: Some Small Mods
Does your table have some sort of leaf to expand it or am i seeing things ? If it does, did you add it yourself ?

Re: Some Small Mods
Tom,
One of our chairs has a nick in it. It isn't even in a place where the chairs touch each other. I mentioned to Scruffy that we should switch that chair (outside nearest entertainment center) with the one next to the window, closest to the sofa - that way the nick would be pretty much hidden. But, when we got home from our last trip, I decided I would make chairback covers.
I like the idea of turning the table and using only two chairs, but we sometimes have friends or family over for dinner.
Jac and Jan,
You aren't seeing things - that's a leaf that slides out and up. The table came that way. Maybe that table was new with the 2007 models. It has a little snap on a short plastic strap that keeps it from sliding open while we're traveling.... and it WILL slide open. In the middle picture (the one with the blue strap around the chairs), you can see the strap if you look closely. It's right below the chairback cover.

Re: Some Small Mods
We took the chairs out, bought 4 wooden folding ones that were about
the same color and 4 seat cushions. Now days we only tote 2 of
each around. We also turned the table and but pushed it over
closer to the couch, el cheapo end table. About the only thing we
use the table for is to hold the computer
monitor/keyboard/mouse. We use TV trays to eat off of
(they're also wood and the top is removable so we can use them as just
trays) and stack just fine while towing.
We recycled the OEM chairs by buying a new diningroom table.

My DW sure likes your chair covers; in fact, she's added it to her projects list! She wants to know if you take them off when you get to your destination or leave them on?

Re: Some Small Mods
They look nice enough to leave on, so we'll do that. Besides, if we leave them on, we don't have to find a place to put them. If I would have had enough of that fabric, I would have made them a little bit longer.

Re: Some Small Mods
Did the over the shower sky light mod today. Used 1/2 channel and insulated panels for between trusses. Really helped cut down the sunlight in the morning for the little ones and easily slides back to let light in during the day.

Re: Some Small Mods
Was I ever miffed when Scruffy showed me a picture from the July 2009 issue of Trailer Life magazine. It's called Caddy Stack and is in the upper right section of page 53. It was almost an identical sewer hose holder that we pictured at the top of this thread. Somebody stole our idea and sent it in to Trailer Life!!!!!!! ....... Then I remembered - we saw similar holders holding a sewer hose in a campground where we stayed once. We - uh - borrowed the idea from someone else - maybe the same guy who sent his idea in to Trailer Life.
We didn't use pvc gutter to support the sewer hose, though - we bought an adjustable holder from Camping World.
